Another....Life-line......For Michael Vick

We know.....or have been told......cats have nine lives.

Humans?

No.......Unless it involves Michael Vick...and the NFL.

After a birthday party gone bad.......a shooting.....an investigation.....

Vick is still alive and well in the NFL:

NFL says Vick can play

PHILADELPHIA, July 26 (UPI) -- The NFL said Monday quarterback Michael Vick, under a bit of a cloud after a shooting outside his birthday celebration, can play this season.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello sent a Twitter message saying "there has been no change in his playing status." Aiello said the NFL would have no further comment for now.
Vick was to report to the Philadelphia Eagles' training camp Monday.

The Philadelphia Daily News had reported the league cleared Vick following an investigation into last month's shooting outside a restaurant.

While the quarterback, who is trying to rebuild his career after serving federal prison time for dogfighting, was cleared as a suspect and no charges were filed in the shooting incident, he was reported to have been in a confrontation before it happened. That placed him in the position of potentially facing league discipline.

"I'm not doing it," Bryant said. "I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player's pads."
"If I was a free agent, it would still be the same thing. I just feel like I'm here to play football. I'm here to try to help win a championship, not carry someone's pads. I'm saying that out of no disrespect to [anyone]."

Do the home invasions ever stop? Charlotte Bobcats player Stephen Jackson's home was robbed while his wife was locked inside! Plus more on Tiger's $22 million loss when you read on..

On Wednesday morning, three armed men broke into the home of Charlotte Bobcats player Stephen Jackson. The robbers managed to enter Jackson’s $1.7-million home in a gated community while he was away in Texas attending a camp. The three masked gunmen locked Jackson’s wife, Renata, inside a bathroom and took a 9mm pistol, a Louis Vuitton wallet, and a ruby-encrusted wristwatch, among other things, police said. No suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery.
Rumors have been circulating that this may have been an inside job. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg have been real tight-lipped about the details but did mention how unusual it was for three masked gunman to make entry into a private gated community with heavy security. Only time will tell who was involved, but thank God the wife was left unharmed.

Nick Saban Slams 'Pimp' Agents

HOOVER, Ala. — Nick Saban didn't pull punches Wednesday when discussing the improper contact with athletes by unscrupulous agents, comparing their behavior to that of a "pimp."
The Alabama coach was upset about the rash of recent agent-related incidents that have resulted in NCAA investigations at several Southeastern Conference schools.
"I don't think it's anything but greed that's creating it right now on behalf of the agents," Saban said in a rant at the SEC media days. "The agents that do this – and I hate to say this, but how are they any better than a pimp?
"I have no respect for people who do that to young people. None. How would you feel if they did it to your child?"

Green told reporters before his scheduled appearance at the Southeastern Conference media days Wednesday that he is “just focused on getting ready for the season.”Georgia coach Mark Richt says “we’ll see what they gather” when asked about the probe.
Georgia officials have confirmed the NCAA has requested permission to conduct an investigation on campus.
Investigations are under way at Alabama, South Carolina and Florida regarding possible improper contact by several athletes with an agent.

U. of Georgia Investigates Football Star

TMZ has learned the University of Georgia is investigating whether football star A.J. Green partied on South Beach at the same bash that's launched investigations at three other colleges.

0721_green_UGA_EXD_getty

A source closely connected to Georgia's athletic department tells TMZ the wide receiver allegedly attended a party at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami on Memorial Day weekend.  Partying alone isn't a crime under NCAA rules -- Green is 21 years old -- but if someone (like an agent or financial advisor) paid for anything related to Green's trip ... that could be a violation.

We're told a member of the coaching staff spoke directly to Green to ask him about the party -- and he denied being in Miami at all that weekend.

According to SI.com the NCAA plans to look into sports agent violations at UGA. It's unclear if Green is part of that investigation.

The University's Compliance Department told TMZ on Tuesday, "This is the first we've heard of anything involving A.J. Green."

In recent weeks, there have been reports that three other schools -- South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama -- are also investigating athletes for attending the same Miami party.

Tiki Barber Sued: You Knew You Were Cheating

A company that made a deal with famed, retired NFLer Tiki Barber and his wife claims Barber fraudulently passed himself off as "happily married" in order to score some quick cash.

0713_tiki_wife_EX_Getty_01

Tricera Revolution, Inc. -- which manufacturers state-of-the-art indoor cycling studios -- alleges in a new lawsuit filed in New York and obtained by TMZ ... it made a deal with Tiki and his wife Ginny, because they were "purportedly a happily-married, celebrity couple who were known to attend indoor cycling classes together."

The company gave the couple stock in return for PR, only to learn later, "...Barber was engaged in an adulterous affair with a twenty-three year old intern, Traci Lynn Johnson and intended to divorce Ginny Barber, with whom he had already fathered two children and who was pregnant at that time with twins."

Short story -- the company claims Barber knew the whole "happily married" thing was a lie when he signed on, and now the promotion is worthless.

Tricera wants to undo the deal and get its stock back from the Barbers.

“It is with profound sadness that the family of George M. Steinbrenner III announces his passing. He passed away this morning in Tampa, Fla., at age 80," the Yankees said in a statement.
“He was an incredible and charitable man. First and foremost he was devoted to his entire family -- his beloved wife, Joan; his sisters, Susan Norpell and Judy Kamm; his children, Hank, Jennifer, Jessica and Hal; and all of his grandchildren.

Steinbrenner was taken into St. Joseph’s Hospital last night between 9:30 and 10 p.m. after he said he wasn’t feeling well. He underwent a procedure, the details of which are not known. Sometime between 6:30 and 7 this morning his heart failed.
"There will never be anyone like George Steinbrenner," said team president Randy Levine, who worked under the Boss for 20 years. "He was the greatest owner in pro sports. He was an inspirational figure. There are not many people like him in the world. He was very, very extraordinary."
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in a statement, “Few people have had a bigger impact on New York over the past four decades than George Steinbrenner.
”George had a deep love for New York, and his steely determination to succeed combined with his deep respect and appreciation for talent and hard work made him a quintessential New Yorker.”
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani was a longtime Yankees fan and had a front-row seat for the run to the 2001 World Series after the Sept. 11 attacks.
"George Steinbrenner’s Yankees represent the will to overcome all odds which is precisely the will New Yorkers display when meeting every challenge they face," Giuliani said. "George will be greatly be missed but his legacy will carry on in the hearts and minds of all baseball fans."
Flags at City Hall were lowered to half-staff.
“The passing of George Steinbrenner marks the end of an era in New York City baseball history,” Mets owners Fred and Jeff Wilpon and Saul Katz said in a statement. “George was a larger than life figure and a force in the industry. The rise and success of his teams on the field and in the business marketplace under his leadership are a testament to his skill, drive, and determination.”
