The "Association" is Back!
Welcome back ! The National Basketball Association....affectionately known as ..."The Association"...is back!
Five Questions...we ask. You decide!
#1. Will Golden State repeat?
#2. Does Kobe....have anything left?
#3. Will the Atlanta Hawks win 60 again? Or return to meritocracy?
#4. Do "Pops"...and San Antonio have one last charge to a championship left?
#5. Can LeBron ...play and coach the Cav's to championship?
So many questions....so few answers. 82 games stretched out over 6 months.
You tell me.
Just glad to have the " Association" back!

Thoughts on a Friday
Thank God for air conditioned cars, houses, and offices. And to think when we were kids...we played in this heat....from sunrise to sunset.
In today's world...we have Meteorologists warning us to be sure we bring in our pets and plants...out of the heat.
Really?
But this is a time for us sports fans that is a little depressing. No more NBA....no more NHL. College football and the NFL are still 3 months away. So now all we have is that God awful and agonizing slow sport known as Major League Baseball.
Again...thank God for cable TV...and the hundreds of channels for entertainment.
Anyway....here are 5 things...I think ...I think:
1. I think....what happened the other day in Charleston...was horrible... but ...while tragic....will do a lot in bringing the races together. No more hate. No more senseless killings.
2. I think my new grandson....Kameron...who will be 3 weeks Monday...is even more handsome than I was ...at his age.
3. I think Tiger Woods has still not recovered from the beating he took from his wife...that Thanksgiving weekend back in 2009. Officially...it is still called a minor car accident. But we all know...she went up side his head with a golf club...and he hasn't been the same since.
4. I thought...LeBron James was the best player on the planet. He even said so. With that being said...How do you lose to the Golden State Warriors in the Finals. If you are the best player in the world. Just thinking.
5. Finally...I think I really need a vacation. Time to stop the world...get off for a week!
Have a great and safe weekend!

Hump Day News & Views
A snow storm! Our own Governor has placed us under a "State of Emergency".
The first flurries arrived at about 3pm...Since then, we have had ....from a dusting to about an inch of the white stuff. (The devil's...dandruff).
Schools are closing...Businesses sending their peeps home. For it's ...snowing in the deep South. Georgia!
But it is still a Hump Day. So...let us ...."hump"!
Another "King James"?
LeBron....Shut up...already!
We are ....tiring of ...Mr. Lynch
We agree with you....Kobe
Really? Phil....You are the "orchestrator" of this mess!
Okey Dokey...Have a great "Hump Day"!

Hump Day... News&Views
It seems only fitting that it is a Hump Day.
The 365th day.
So Much has happened these past 12 months.
We have gained...we have lost.
Some have come into our lives...some have departed.
We have loved....we have cried.
We have endured the sorrows...and the happy times.
Let's "hump" one last time this year:
He got fired the next day:

A Strange...Game 1
No air-conditioning...No LeBron ...No Miami victory.
Strange game last night. For three and a half quarters it was nip and tuck. Close.
100 degrees on the floor. Then James goes out.
Spurs win.
Strange game...this game 1!

"Cramping" ...His Style?
I have never had a cramp. But I have been around athletes who have...and women who have them monthly.
So all these haters? Take a chill pill. Give King James a break.

Soft, pleasing winds. No flies or mosquitoes.
Mothers Day approaching....
The NFL draft tomorrow...The NBA Play-offs are in full bloom.
The Braves finally won a game...after losing 7 straight.
It doesn't get much better than this.
Unless...it's..."Hump Day"!

The Mask...LeBron Style
Leave it to LeBron James to make a fashion statement out of a mask designed to protect his broken nose.
You gotta give him his due. It is an intimating image.
Our guess it is now the entire Miami Heat team will be sporting these masks before the season ends.
LeBron James' Black Mask Looked Like It Belonged In A Comic Book
It might be unclear whether the hero or the villain would wear it.

Heat Check
Great game...overtime...suspense.
The Atlanta Hawks...did everything...except win the damn game!
From the Miami Herald:
Heat 121, Hawks 119 (OT)
Miami Heat orchestrates late escape plan to overcome Atlanta Hawks at home
So cruel, the Heat.

This Could be ....A Sweep!
Yes, it's just one game....out of a 7 game series. But watching last night's San Antonio's win...it leads to an awful lot of questions regarding the Miami Heat.
Great game. Close....But here's what we saw.
Miami has no answer to Tony Parker. He drove into the lane with ease....Passed to open men...and hit crucial after crucial jumpers.
Team defense. San Antonio did not shut the big three down (LeBron, Dwayne, & Bosh)...but their team oriented defense limited those Miami runs...those 10-0....15-2 runs. Miami could not get out on the fast breaks.
Yes, it's just one game....but the Heat is in big trouble.

A "Heat" Check
This series between the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers...may go the distance...7 games.
But make no mistake....The Heat has the better team. More stars...more talent. More LeBron James.
Last night Miami put their boots on the throat of the Pacers....and didn't let off.
From the Miami Herald:
Game 5 | Heat 90, Pacers 79
King's dominion
LeBron James shot Miami out of danger with a sequence of jump shots that put the Heat ahead for good in a 90-79 victory against the Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Sending a ...Message
Message sent...was said message received? We shall see.
Last night the Miami Heat...sent a message. It went a little like this, "We are the Miami Heat. We are the best basketball team on the planet. Yes, you stole a game...but we...have ...more game than you!"
And in Indianapolis....the Pacers are wondering, " What the hell was that freight train that just rolled us?"
Aaaahhh.....such are the NBA play-offs! This is the Eastern Conference Finals and it doesn't get any better than this.
From the Miami Herald:
Game 3 | Heat 114, Pacers 96 | Heat leads series, 2-1
Road warriors strike back
LeBron James scored 22 points and the Miami Heat rediscovered their offensive punch, routing the Indiana Pacers to take a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference finals.

Things We Learned ...From the Week-end
In this small college southern town...We are in the dog days of summer. Hot August nights which lead to hot and humid days.
This week-end brought an end to the London 2012 Olympics....Saw the NFL pre-season get into full swing....And saw Tiger Woods struggle in another Major.
Some things will learned:
Chad Johnson just "head-butted" his way out of the NFL:
Dolphins Cut Chad Johnson
The rest of the world is catching up:
Good As Gold
LeBron Leads USA To Gold
London did a good job with these Olympics:
GOING AWAY PARTY
Olympics Of Felix, Phelps Farah End With Spice Girls, The Who
Where was Tiger?
