Happy Birthday.......Michael

 A Tribute....and remembrance ....to ......MJ:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MJ!

Today would have been the certified King of Pop's 52nd birthday.  Michael Jackson left us a little over a year ago, but our hearts are still dancing with him in it.

Here's one of our fave vids and a photo gallery to celebrate.  Check it...

Replay.....Is Alive & Well......in MLB

Upon further review, it’s a homer, Braves win

ATLANTA (AP)—Brian McCann(notes) hit a game-winning homer with help from video replay, giving the Atlanta Braves a stunning 7-6 victory over the Florida Marlins on Sunday.
Pinch-hitter Matt Diaz(notes) tied the game with a two-run homer off Leo Nunez(notes) (4-3) after Brooks Conrad(notes) led off the ninth with a walk. Nunez retired the next two hitters, then McCann drove a 1-2 pitch toward the wall in right.

The ball bounced back onto the field, and the umpires initially ruled it was still in play. McCann stopped at second and began arguing that he should have more than a double.
The umpires conferred, then headed toward the Florida dugout to look at a replay which clearly showed the ball struck the top of the wall—right over McCann’s name on an auxiliary scoreboard—and went over. It ricocheted back onto the field off a back wall.

Crew chief Tim McClelland returned to the field, pointed toward McCann with a slight grin—and gave the universal signal for homer. The review took a relatively quick 1 minute, 26 seconds.

Most of the Braves players were already on the field, ready to celebrate while the umpires looked at the replay. When McClelland twirled his right index finger, McCann finished his triumphant jog around the bases, slamming down his helmet before he touched home and disappeared into the arms of his teammates.

The NL East-leading Braves overcame a 6-1 deficit, scoring three runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth for a victory they will surely remember if they hold on for their first division title since 2005.

Finally......A Good Decision.....Made by ......Vick

Michael Vick......has had a problem making the right decisions in his life.....But.....

This is one decision......we applaud:

In other reality news, Michael Vick has cancelled his 2nd season of his BET reality show “The Michael Vick Project.” Vick would rather concentrate on his game on the field rather then having cameras in his face 24/7.

He tells CSN Philly, “I put a stop to that. They asked me to do it. I don’t have that lifestyle.”

We hear the show was actually good.  But who was watching?  Sounds like a smart move if anything by Vick...

The...".Inevitable"?

Are we surprised?  No....the inevitable has happened.

What next Mr. Woods?

A Black Eye.......For the ...Four Letter Network?

ESPN.......owned by Disney.....does not "Mickey Mouse" around  when it comes to protecting it's image.

This could spell the end for "Around the Horn" regular,  Jay Mariotti.

From TMZ.com:

Jay Mariotti, Famous Sports Columnist, Arrested in LA

ESPN personality and popular sports columnist Jay Mariotti was arrested this morning in Los Angeles, this according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department website.

0821_Jay_Mariotti_GETTY_BN
Mariotti was arrested on a felony charge at 4:30 AM -- a police source tells us it is a domestic violence charge.

He was held on $50,000 bail and released shortly after noon.

Mariotti is a regular on the ESPN show "Around the Horn" and a writer for the popular sports website Fanhouse.com.

UPDATE: A rep for ESPN said the network had no comment.

Here's a few comments from fans across the country:

If you want to be taken seriously in sports writing...never call him a "popular" sports columnist. He is far from it.
domestic violence charge, meaning: his wife was pissed because he didn't take out the trash, so she called the police.
This news is a downer for sure. Mariotti and Paige are my two favorite sports columnists on Around the Horn. If the charge sticks and he's off the show it will be a bummer for sure. Hopefully he didn't do what he's charged with.
Mariotti is one of those "holier than thou" clowns who preach against athletes who get into trouble....like steroids.....wife abuse...drunk driving....
He is ESPN's biggest Tiger Woods critic...
I knew that it was just a matter of time for all of that vitriol to come back and bite him in the ass.
As always...the ones who protest the loudest....are the ones whose closets full of skeletons....
It couldn't have happened to a more deserving punk.

Braves Keep Rolling

Brave update.......another day.....another win:

Can it get any worse for Jayson?

Jayson Williams -- Another Year Behind Bars for DWI

Former NBA star Jayson Williams just got sentenced to a year behind bars for his DWI case ... but that sentence will have to wait until AFTER he finishes his current 5 years hard time for the shooting death of his limo driver.

Jayson Williams Sentenced to Jail

Williams was arrested for DWI back in January after he slammed his Mercedes-Benz into a tree in New York City.

Moments ago in Manhattan Criminal Court, Williams -- through his lawyer -- plead guilty to DWI and was slapped with the 1-year sentence, and he also has to pay $16,643 for the tree he hit.

Less than two months after the DWI, Williams began serving his five year sentence for the 2002 limo driver shooting.

Renee Gork And What Not To Wear To Work

The Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium with ...
Image via Wikipedia
Announced via Twitter: Renee Gork shared the news that she was fired yesterday from KAKS, an Arkansas radio station that calls itself Hogs Sports Radio, for sporting a University of Florida Gators cap at an Arkansas Razorbacks news conference on Saturday.

Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino called her out after answering one of her lobs: ”And that will be the last question I answer with that hat on,” Petrino said.

As explanation, Gork, an alumni of UF, said she “grabbed the hat without thinking because it was raining outside.” She also said she sent a letter of apology to the university and Petrino. “Was hoping to publicly apologize to coach Petrino and UA fans on the show today … but I won’t get that chance,” Gork wrote on KAKS’ Twitter account. “I’ve been fired.”

According to the Associated Press, KAKS isn’t commenting other than saying Gork is no longer working at the station, adding, “This radio station is Hog Sports Radio. We are very biased. We support the Razorbacks 100%.”

ForbesWoman recently ran a story titled, “What Not To Wear To Work,” covering such conundrums as business versus casual attire and fashion faux pas such as wearing too revealing (cleavage) and sloppy  (torn hemline) clothing. “Even though there aren’t many hard and fast rules anymore, you need to scrutinize your image because that’s the memory you leave behind when you leave the room,” advises Marion Gellatly, president of Powerful Presence, a Pebble Beach, Calif.-based image consultancy.

Who would’ve thunk that donning a competitor’s logo belonged on the list?
The last  high-profile wardrobe firing we reported on was Citibank employee, Debrahlee Lorenzana, who claimed she was let go for being too sexy.

The memory that Gork left was obviously too much for KAKS–and Petrino, whose team lost to the Gators last season 23-20.

Inconsideration or a fireable offense? What do you think?
