Getting no Love....in the ATL

There is a championship game to be played on Sunday...between the Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco Giants.   

The talking heads of the world wide leader (ESPN) cannot control themselves gawking uncontrollably over the 49ners.   According to most everyone....the Falcons don't stand a chance.  San Fran has better players....a better coach...a better QB....a better defense.

This is the same 49ner team that went into New York and got destroyed by the Giants.  Oh...by the way...the Falcons beat these same Giants,   34-0.   This is the same 49ner team the Seattle Sea Hawks humiliated a few weeks ago.   (See last week)  The Falcons shut out Seattle 20-0 in the first half  on the way to....yes a win.

Atlanta is went 13-3 this season...best in the NFL.   Home field advantage is theirs.  

Let San Fran get the headlines.....the magazine covers.   Come Sunday,  Falcons....hit 'em in the mouth.....repeatedly!   Then....hit 'em again.   Then step on their neck until they puke!

I have a feeling the "Dirty Birds" will play with so much intensity ......so much energy....

The Dome will be rocking!

Let them have their SI cover.....The ATL will have the last laugh.

We said it after game 1...this series was over.   You ...as in San Fran...annihilate the best pitcher on the planet in the opening game?  

They....Detroit....shot their wad.   No more bullets in the chamber.

Yep....it's only been 1 game of a 7 game series...but...the 2012 World Series is over.

The San Francisco Giants just made little meatballs of the best pitcher on the planet.  Detroit might not win a game.

Lincecum Pitches Complete-Game Shutout, Giants Take 1-0 Series ...

Photo by Zimbio  Just one day after Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Roy Halladay tossed the second no-hitter in MLB postseason history, San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum posted a complete-game shutout, surrendering just two hits and one walk, to carry his team to a 1-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of the NLDS.

Neither Halladay nor Lincecum had ever pitched in the playoffs coming into their outings on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. However, the Cy Young candidates put forth two of the most dominant postseason pitching performances of recent times in consecutive days.

Against the Braves Thursday night, Lincecum struck out 14 batters and 75 of his 119 pitches were strikes. Giants first baseman Nate Schierholtz addressed the pitcher’s performance, telling the SF Chronicle, “His ball was invisible, and they were swinging right through it. It makes it a little easier on defense knowing he’s rolling through their lineup.”

With his complete-game shutout of the Atlanta Braves, Lincecum became the first pitcher to win a 1-0 postseason game when allowing two hits or less since the great Vida Blue achieved the feat in the 1974 ALCS as a member of the Oakland Athletics. According to Sports Illustrated, Blue and Lincecum are the only pitchers to accomplish the remarkable feat in the past 60 years.

Week end Updates

It looks like the end of the line for Barry Bonds in San Francisco. The Giants have informed Mr. Bonds his services are no longer needed in the bay city. I almost feel sorry for BB. Yes, he has been an arrogant SOB over the years and has been the soul poster boy for Stroids, he did make SF relevant again . Where does Bonds go from here? What team would want this kind of baggage? This was evident over the winter when no teams, besides the Giants, showed any interest in Barry. I think Bonds should take his 760+ homers and ride off into the sunset of retirement.
