When You Wake a Sleeping...Giant...Bad Things Happen!

As "March Madness" continues ...Let us look back on last night's Sweet Sixteen match-up between the #1 team in the land... and this upstart West Virginia squad.

Kentucky...Big Blue.

West Virginia.

Supposed to be just another game...but?   This freshman from UWVA  starts mouthing off.  First he said, " Kentucky might be 36-0..but after tonight,  they will be 36-1."

Okay...fine.   You must maintain confidence at this level.   But...he went on,  " Kentucky don't play hard ".

Why would he open up this can of "kick-ass"?  As if they needed more motivation....The Big Blue proceeded to utterly destroy West Virginia.

And...by the way?  That loud mouth freshman?  Well ...he had ZERO points....and hid in the bathroom from reporters after the game!

Here's the skinny:

Let the Upsets Begin!

Georgia State beat Baylor 57-56!

R.J. Hunter kept firing away, eventually lifting 14th-seeded Georgia State over third-seeded Baylor and knocking his father (coach) right off his seat with the biggest shot of his life.

This Georgia girl is very proud of this team.

Springing ...Forward

It's that time again...a re-post of one of my favorite posts:

Daylight Savings Time

A re-post.....from years past:

Springing............Forward

Daylight Savings Time.....

To be quite blunt.......Daylight savings time sucks! Tomorrow....check that...today..... at 2 am we will set our collective clocks forward 1 hour. Why? Our time pieces in our body will have to adjust needlessly for this ridiculous attempt to cheat mother nature.

How......exactly....... are we .......saving......daylight? And.....what are we saving daylight from? Is .....daylight ..... in danger? Does......daylight.....need to be rescued? Oh, my bad. We're not saving the daylight from an unknown enemy........We are saving daylight........for future use. So....should we freeze it ........or can it? Or put the daylight in a bank ....and earn interest.

Now, personally, I happen to like daylight. And for years now, I have done what most Americans have done for the last 30 years.......In March........I save an hour..........of daylight.
Only to give it back in October! And when I give it back........I have no return on my investment. I just........don't get it. Spring forward...........fall backward......why? And for.......whom?

Daylight.........could care less.......In a 24 hour day..........daylight shines for how ever many hours.......regardless if we humans manipulate a doggone clock.

Meanwhile.........the moon is watching all of this........and thinking........."Hey....what about "moonlight" savings time....... We want equal representation". We too..... want to be saved.

Imagine that..............then again.......just set that darn clock ahead ......save that hour of daylight........and be a zombie for a few days before your body adjusts......

Daylight Savings Time............

Yuck!!!!

Selma....50 Years Later

Yes...we are a "Sports Blog".

But...we also like to dabble in the real world we live.  Today...Our president,  Barack Obama delivered a speech for the ages.  Powerful? An understatement.  For this was beyond powerful!

No teleprompter....no cue cards...just a speech!   From the heart.

Love the man....hate the man...Obama is excellent  at delivering oratory excellence.

"The Cuban Comet" and "Mr. White Sox" dies at 90!

Minnie Miñoso,
MLB's first black Latino star
Minoso played 12 of his 17 seasons in Chicago, hitting .304 with 135 homers and 808 RBIs for the White Sox. The White Sox retired his No. 9 in 1983 and there is a statue of Minoso at U.S. Cellular Field.

Minoso, regarded as baseball's first black Latino star, was a Havana native who spent most of his career in left field. He is one of only two players to appear in a major league game in five different decades. He got his final hit in 1976 at age 53 and went 0 for 2 in two games in 1980 for the White Sox, who tried unsuccessfully over the years to get the "Cuban Comet" into baseball's Hall of Fame.
