Another ..."Washed up Actress"....Seeking....Publicity

We've seen this before......Washed up actress.....trying for face time.

Daryl Hannah....is not .....has not .....and will never be confused with the likes of   Meryl Street,  Katharine Hepburn,  or Bette Davis.

She is .....b line .....at best.

Yet she fines her way into the news.....

And of course......TMZ.com.....finds her:

Daryl Hannah
ARRESTED at the White House

0830_darryl_hannah_bn

Daryl Hannah donned a familiar accessory outside the White House today -- HANDCUFFS -- after she was arrested during an oil pipeline protest.

The actress-turned-activist was busted with several other protesters -- when they sat on the sidewalk in front of the White House and ignored three requests by police to move.

Daryl's an old pro when it comes to getting arrested  -- saying, " Sometimes it's necessary to sacrifice your freedom for a greater freedom. And we want to be free from the horrible death and destruction that fossil fuels cause, and have a clean energy future."

Hannah was famously arrested after she stopped traffic in West Virginia in 2009 -- blocking a busy street during a protest over mining practices.

Mo Money........Mo Money

Just in .....

Michael Vick.......has hit the proverbial......jackpot.  $40 million ...guaranteed.

Yep........$40 million!

Us.......to Mike.

"Please don't blow this".

From CNN and SI.com:

Michael Vick, Eagles reach $100-million deal

Michael Vick is now signed with the Eagles through the 2016 season. (CSM/Landov)

At least in spurts last season, Michael Vick played like one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. Now, he’s going to be paid like one.

Vick reportedly agreed to a whopping six-year, $100-million contract with the Eagles on Monday, with $40 million guaranteed. The 31-year-old Vick could now be in Philadelphia through the 2016 season.

He was set to play out this season as the Eagles’ designated franchise player, which would have paid him just shy of $16 million for 2011. Instead, he’ll earn $16.7 million. Vick eased his way back into the NFL in 2009, seeing limited action with the Eagles. He took over as the starter last season, throwing for 3,018 yards in 12 games and rushing for 676.

It’s the latter stat that still makes Vick the dangerous weapon he is. Few players in the NFL, let alone quarterbacks, bring as much athleticism and elusiveness to the table as he does. But it’s also Vick’s propensity for trying to make things happen with his feet that could make this a risky deal.

Remember, Vick missed four games in 2010 after suffering a rib cartilage injury against the Redskins, when he took a hit while he was scrambling. Taking into account the two seasons he lost due to being incarcerated and Vick hasn’t played a full NFL season since 2006 with Atlanta.

Speaking of which, can we officially declare that Vick’s NFL career has come full circle? It’s sort of incredible to think about, but this is the second $100-million contract that Vick has received. The first came at the end of the 2004 regular season — Atlanta handed Vick a 10-year, $130-million extension that at the time made him the richest player in the league.

That season ended with a conference-title game loss to (oh, the irony!) the Eagles. Vick made it through two more seasons before heading off to jail, an unexpected turn that cost the controversial QB nearly $70 in base salary from that initial deal. Vick also had to eventually pay back more than $6 million of the bonuses he received on the contract, which totaled $37 million.

But for everything that went wrong while Vick was a member of the Falcons, it feels like the exact opposite has been true since he landed in Philadelphia. He signed with the Eagles just prior to the 2009 season for less than $2 million, with no money guaranteed.

Almost two years to the date, he’s topped that contract more than 50 times over.

Say what you will about his previous blunders, but Philadelphia wouldn’t have taken a chance on Vick in 2009 and certainly would not have committed this massive contract to him if he wasn’t a one-of-a-kind talent. The Eagles even traded away promising QB Kevin Kolb to Arizona this offseason — then Kolb himself landed a $65-million, six-year deal.

And as much as this contract is a vote of confidence for Vick’s on-field impact from Philadelphia, it’s also the Eagles’ way of saying that they trust Vick off the field as well.

Believe me, Philadelphia would not have thrown this deal Vick’s way if the franchise had even one iota of concern about what he was doing away from the gridiron. You may never want to forgive him for the dog-fighting charges — and no one will ever forget that era of Vick’s life — but every step he’s taken in the past two years has paid off.

All that said, though, this is a gamble on the Eagles’ part. Instead of taking it year to year with Vick and holding Kolb as insurance, they’ve decided to put all their chips on the table.
It’s now up to Vick to stay healthy, stay out of trouble and reward that faith.

Too Fast........Too Soon

From Yahoo Sports:

Bolt false starts and is eliminated from 100 final

DAEGU, South Korea (AP)—Usain Bolt again did the unbelievable when it mattered most in the 100 meters.
This time, no gold medal or world record, but a false start and straight elimination from the world championships in a race he has regally reigned over for three years.

In a stunning few seconds, Bolt’s showboating turned into real-life despair when he jumped the gun and was led away from the track before Jamaican teammate Yohan Blake won gold ahead of American rival Walter Dix.

While everyone had been wondering what Bolt would do to his world record of 9.58 seconds, it was Blake who won his first 100 title with a slow time of 9.92, the only racer to break 10 seconds in the final.

Dix took silver in 10.08 and Kim Collins of Saint Kitts and Nevis was third in 10.09.
“I didn’t really think they were going to kick him out,” Dix said. “How can you kick Usain out of the race?”

Even as the final went ahead, Bolt was the center of attention, and for once in his golden career he was not play-acting.

Three steps into in his race after the starting gun, Bolt’s face turned into a primal scream. And in one instinctive move he started pulling off his Jamaica shirt, needing no one to tell him he had made the biggest error in his career.

He was shown the red card and led to the sideline.

He gritted his teeth in self disgust, and threw up his arms in desperation. Hands over his head, he walked away before slamming the blue stadium wall.

All dreams of a third golden triple in as many major championships were gone, and he had no one to blame but himself.

Irene....Makes Her Presence Felt

Hurricane Irene.....is making her presence  felt....

Even if it means empty seats in South Beach.

Yesterdays' game between the Florida Marlins and the Cincinnati Reds drew....

347 fans!

From the blog,  "Big League Stew":

347 fans! Hurricane Irene wipes out Marlins attendance

What would happen if they staged a Major League Baseball game and no one came?
The Florida Marlins and Cincinnati Reds almost found out on Wednesday afternoon.

347 fans! Hurricane Irene wipes out Marlins attendance
According to @790Justin, there was an unofficial headcount of 347 fans in the stands for the first pitch of Wednesday's doubleheader at Sun Life Stadium. Justin Cohen counted five sections with three or fewer people in it and three completely empty sections. The Marlins haven't announced the official attendance, but it likely won't challenge the record of the smallest crowd in modern history (believed to be 653 during a Oakland Athletics game in 1979).

That's because the Marlins will count all of the tickets that were sold, not just the number of fans that moved through the turnstiles. Back in 2007, someone counted 375 fans in the stands for the first pitch of an afternoon Marlins game in mid-September and the "official" attendance announced by the team was still 10,121.

UPDATE: The Marlins must see dead people. They announced the doubleheader's official attendance as 22,505 fans.
