The Feathers are Coming Off

These birds of prey...are done.  Too many injuries...too few superstars.

These are...our Atlanta Hawks.

Lets just see how many games we can lose.  Just might help out in the NBA draft.  But for now...it's just plain pitiful.

Hawks edged out by Celtics
Jeff Teague had 26 points but the Hqwks fell 115-104 to the Celtics, losing for the 10th time in 11 games.

Sometimes.....You just run out of Gas......Or Luck!

Dale Earnhardt, Jr......has not won a race...since.....June of 2008.  (103 races) if you're counting.

In the Coca-cola 600....yesterday in Charlotte......he was the leader....on the last lap.

Poised to win.   The NASCAR fans were standing and cheering....NASCAR's most popular figure.

And then.......

And then........

Junior......runs out of gas.

Bad driving?   Bad luck?  Bad crew?

All of the above?

Dale.....your daddy just turned over......in his grave.

Not Your Ordinary Roof Leak

There are roof leaks........and then there is this:

Inside the Metrodome, which has a tear in it (AP)

The Giants/Vikings game which had been scheduled for 1 p.m. today was postponed till tomorrow night after a huge blizzard swept through Minneapolis and manhandled the Metrodome and its inflated roof. The Giants were waylaid in Kansas City when the Metrodome roof dramatically collapsed. A portion of the Teflon-coated fiberglass roof fell-through under the weight of nearly two feet of snow. Here is the incredibly crazy video:

You're Fired!!!!!!!! Part 3

The University of Memphis........fired its head football coach the other day. Tommy West.

"It's ....painful", said Tommy.

This poor guy.....

Imagine if he was coaching at a real big time college program. In the SEC.....or the PAC-10....or the ACC.......or the Big 10.......or the Big 12?

Instead........he was fired as a coach........at Memphis....a mid major.....but....

He had the last word........And I think his superiors ......were caught.....just a little bit ...off guard.

You decide.....

In case....you missed it......

The "hit" of the day.......no, not a linebacker.....not a cornerback....

But a runningback.......as in the Minnesota Vikings, Adrian Peterson....courtesy of YouTube and Fox Sports:

The Knowshon Hurdle

Every one is talking about the "play".......It happened last Saturday in the Georgia - Central Michigan game.

Knowshon Moreno had a run for the ages...........a play that will go down as one of the greatest to the "Bulldog Nation". A sure high-light ........A sure "Top 10" play on ESPN......

But a funny thing happened........You never got to see it on ESPN........They never showed that replay. After an outrage from Georgia fans, ESPN threw Fox Sports (the original broadcaster of the game) under the bus..........claiming Fox didn't include that particular play in the high-light feed.

Anyway........thanks to YouTube........we have for you here:

NASCAR.......versus ...Yankees/Redsox?

In a moment that rivals only the Heidi fiasco in the '70's........FOX sports pulled the old switcharoo in Saturdays' broadcast of a New York / Boston Major League baseball game.

With the Sox leading 4-3 in the top of the ninth.........Fox felt impelled to show viewers the start of a Nascar race..........

Yes..........that NASCAR.......the one where the drivers make left turns.....and keep making left turns..........for 500 miles.

Of course........the switchboards in Boston and New York.....went wild.......

Thank God for FOX..........They had an ........FX..........

Things we Learned Saturday.......

Yes, FOX.....and the rest of America -- There will be a game 7. J. D. Drew awakened from a season long hibernation to have the game of his career as the Redsox blew out the Indians 12-2. I'll be the first to a

dmit -- I had all but counted Boston out. We should have learned our lessons 2 years a
go when these same Boston Redsox overcame a 3-0 deficit against the Yankees to win that ALCS.

Sometimes......you just are what you are. Poor South Carolina......poised to take sole possession of the SEC east and land a trip to the championship game in Atlanta.......The unthinkable happens.....They get punked by Vanderbilt. The 'cocks, along with their no. 6 ranking are now just another Carolina team that fades late in the season.

Laughing at Notre Dame has reached the point where it really isn't funny any more. The Irish suffered their second worst home lost .......ever. USC destroyed the Irish -- even in those pukey green uniforms.....And the natives are getting restless.

South Bend Tribune: "Where's ND's progress?"

Tim Tebow is one tough white boy. Tebow willed the Gators to victory over a Kentucky team that featured Heisman candidate Andre Woodson. It seemed every time Kentucky pulled close -- Tebow would do something spectacular and the Gators were scoring again.

LSU may never lose at home.....at night.......ever again. Auburn had the Tigers beat. A magnificent back and forth game saw Auburn taking a seeming winning lead (24-23) with just seconds left. Enter Demetrius Byrd.......Bryd makes a fabulous catch as time runs out to give LSU the come from behind 30-24

victory. By far.......the game of the week end.

In the strange but true category -- Appalachian State.....yes that Appalachian State .....lost ....at home to Georgia Southern, 38-35.

Vandy's win over the Gamecocks was its first win ever in 15 tries against Steve Spurrier and the highest -ranked opponent the Commodores' defeated in 70 years.

If a Tree Fell in the woods.....but nobody saw it.....did it Really Fall?

Arizona........we hardly knew you. And of course we never saw you -- but we've been told you have been eliminated from the play-offs by the Colorado Rockies. With last nights' (actually this mornings') 6-4 lost to the Rockies, the Diamondbacks were swept back to Phoenix in a best 4 of 7 contest to determine the National League's representative in this year's World Series. I feel kind of bad for TBS. In their first year of airing MLB playoff games, they were dealt deuces and treys in an ace high game of spades. After Chicago and Philadelphia both lost -- TBS was left with the small market combination of Colorado-Arizona. Adding to TBS's woes was bad timing and poor scheduling by Major League Baseball. With the games starting at 8pm & later, most of us here in the east never saw the ending of any game in the entire series. The ratings for the NLCS were the lowest in the history of baseball telecasts. In trying to get that advertising revenue generated by airing games only in prime time --- baseball has lost an entire generation of fans. I also blame MLB for their love affair with the 2 teams from New York, the Boston Redsox, and yes , the Alanta Braves. Every FOX Saturday game of the week as well as ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball featured at least one of those 4 teams. The country never got to see Colorado or Arizona ,
or even Cleveland. So when the big 4 don't make it into post season, the national interest is minuscule. We would love to see a Rockies-Indians Fall Classic.....of course on the east coast we won't actually see the games in their entirety......but ......hey ....there's always Sportscenter.
