It's Just a Dog........Folks

In this southern college town..........


People are grieving.......mourning.....reminiscing.........about a dog. A dog named Uga.......as in Uga VI. For those of you not familiar with the passion of Georgia football......Uga is .....or was........ an English bulldog and the live mascot of the UGA football team.

Well........Uga passed away. He died. As most dogs do when they reach the age of 10 human years. The local newspaper, The Athens Banner-Herald, cited the cause of death as congestive heart failure.

I have lost a dog.......Buster.......a miniature dachshund. He lived 15 human years........

I'm sure we have all..........lost pets.......dogs and cats. You know, it happens.

But in this southern college town...........a dog dying ........makes the front page.

Guys....gals...........get a hold of yourselves.......it's only a dog. The sun will rise tomorrow.......you will go to work or school........it will be business as usual.

There have been five other Uga's ..............there will be many , many more to come.

When Uga VII is presented to the Bulldog Nation........I will see him as ........just another dog.......an English bulldog........a mascot. Nothing more........nothing less.

It's just a dog ..............folks!
