In this small southern college town.....it is the last Wednesday of March.  Spring has sprung....all is well.

Well......sort of......an awful lot is happening outside our sports world.  

Had lunch with my daughter........she of 9 months of pregnancy.....  a beautiful thing.

Had to be there for a friend in need.....a sad thing...Coping through a family crisis......


Had to work......a double double.......that's a tiring thing.


But.......we're still humping!

When I first heard about this.....I was like....blah blah blah......Every NFL team does it.

So why did the NFL seek out to destroy the Saints?

Happy Trails......Hines Ward

A native of this great state......and an alumnus of my University of Georgia....Hines Ward is well known in these parts.

We can remember his awesome high school career at nearby College Park......He even played a little quarterback at UGA.

He went on to be one of the most physical and productive wide receivers in NFL history.

But .......he .....as we......realize the big business....which is the NFL.

Hines ......we wish you well......and if you happen to change your mind....I'm sure the Atlanta Falcons.....would love to lure you out of retirement.

Peyton Manning is officially a Denver Bronco -- which means Tim Tebow's out of a job.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen just made the announcement alongside Broncos legend John Elway -- a deal worth a reported $96 million over 5 years, making Peyton the highest paid player in the NFL.

John Elway made it clear during the announcement ... the Broncos are NOT a Super Bowl caliber team with Tim Tebow.

Peyton -- who will wear #18 on the team -- said he's unsure about Tim Tebow's future ... but claimed, if Tebow stays with the Broncos next year, "I'm going to be the best teammate I can be."

Elway said a Tebow trade hasn't been discussed with other teams yet -- but admitted it's very possible the Broncos will get rid of him. Elway speculated Tebow was "disappointed" by the announcement -- but Tebow never said it to him. According to Elway, Tebow was very understanding about the Broncos' decision.

The #18 is significant in Broncos history -- it once belonged to famed Broncos QB Frank Tripucka in the 1960s ... and retired with him. Peyton said Frank personally asked Peyton to resurrect his number, so the Broncs UN-RETIRED it just for PM.

Now that the acquisition's official -- the Broncos will be trying to trade Tebow ... though it's unclear where the 24-year-old will be headed.

Several teams have reportedly been in discussions about snagging Tebow -- who led the Broncos on a tumultuous ride through the playoffs last season -- including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets.

Daylight Savings Time

A re-post.....from years past:

Springing............Forward

Daylight Savings Time.....

To be quite blunt.......Daylight savings time sucks! Tomorrow....check that...today..... at 2 am we will set our collective clocks forward 1 hour. Why? Our time pieces in our body will have to adjust needlessly for this ridiculous attempt to cheat mother nature.

How......exactly....... are we .......saving......daylight? And.....what are we saving daylight from? Is .....daylight ..... in danger? Does......daylight.....need to be rescued? Oh, my bad. We're not saving the daylight from an unknown enemy........We are saving daylight........for future use. So....should we freeze it ........or can it? Or put the daylight in a bank ....and earn interest.

Now, personally, I happen to like daylight. And for years now, I have done what most Americans have done for the last 30 years.......In March........I save an hour..........of daylight.
Only to give it back in October! And when I give it back........I have no return on my investment. I just........don't get it. Spring forward...........fall backward......why? And for.......whom?

Daylight.........could care less.......In a 24 hour day..........daylight shines for how ever many hours.......regardless if we humans manipulate a doggone clock.

Meanwhile.........the moon is watching all of this........and thinking........."Hey....what about "moonlight" savings time....... We want equal representation". We too..... want to be saved.

Imagine that..............then again.......just set that darn clock ahead ......save that hour of daylight........and be a zombie for a few days before your body adjusts......

Daylight Savings Time............

Yuck!!!!

In this small southern college town......let's see....There's the Athens-Clarke County police...there's the Clarke County Sheriffs..... Then there's the UGA Police.....and....there is the Georgia State Patrol.

Clarke county.......the smallest square footage county in the state......has ...by far......the most police agencies patrolling its streets.

This is a city and town.....where you do not ....repeat.....you do not....want to drink and drive.

 NFL Star Michael Turner New GF Fights Baby Mama 'You At My House Now, B*tch'

 

Atlanta Falcons superstar running back Michael Turner broke up a girl-on-girl BRAWL in front of his home yesterday ... when his new GF allegedly attacked his baby mama with a golf club ... TMZ has learned.

Cops were called to Turner's Georgia mansion Monday afternoon ... and discovered 32-year-old Rasheeda Walker in front of the home ... bleeding from the side of her head.

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, Walker claims she has 2 children with Turner and is "upset because he refuses to see them." She also claims she's pregnant with Turner's 3rd child and wanted to talk to him about the situation.

Walker told cops she knocked on the front door ... only to be ambushed by Turner's new GF Elizabeth Delacruz ... who was wielding a golf club and shouting, "YOU AT MY HOUSE NOW B*TCH."

Walker claims she grabbed the golf club away from Delacruz and the two began to fight ... until 5'10", 244-pound Turner came outside and broke the whole thing up.

According to the report, Delacruz told a slightly different story ... telling cops she only grabbed the golf club AFTER Walker sneaked into the house through an unlocked back door.

Cops report both women were scratched up ... and both suffered minor head wounds.

Both women told cops they did NOT want to press charges ... but Walker was issued a criminal trespass warning and advised not to return to the home. We reached out to Walker -- but she had no comment on the situation.

We also called Turner's reps for comment -- so far, no response.
