Gasoline shortage.....in the deep south?
Yes, due the recent string of hurricanes, the shutting down of pipe-lines, and the annual switch to winter grade gasoline..........we have a shortage here in the deep south. And .......with all shortages....there is an emphatic economic repercussion. Supply and demand.....supply is low......demand is high. Across northeast Georgia pumps ran dry......with no shipments scheduled until mid-week.
The stations with gas .......are setting a 10 gallon limit. Well.....it doesn't work.......or it did not work with me. Today, I was prepared only to get 10 gallons....and maybe 10 tomorrow.
But the system has a few holes.....If you pay by credit card.......you can pump as much as you want. The pumps cannot be programed for a cut-off by the gallon.....
So.......I filled up........at $3.87 per gallon!
Why do I feel so proud..........to have "beaten"...... a system? This gasoline mess is making us all .......a bit mad..........a lot bitter.......and a tad selfish.
Some major statements were made..........
Yes.......yes..........
The University of Georgia and A. J. Green (pictured) traveled 1700 miles to smack around Arizona State, 27-10.....in a game that was not even close. Georgia, carried an attitude into Tempe.......and kept on hitting the Sun Devils in the mouth. On the road.......in front of 80,000 of the enemy........the Dawgs sent a message to the rest of the college football world, "We may not be USC.....but we can whip your tail.....any time........any place."
Alabama went into Arkansas ..........and just destroyed the Razerbacks.......Just reward to those hogs who hired disgraced former Atlanta Falcon coach, Bobby Petrino.....That squeal you now hear from Fayetteville ..........is a squeal of pain. Alabama is now 4-0.......and ranked in the top 10.....and........comes to Athens (this southern college town) come Saturday. Let the hype begin.
The Atlanta Falcons........yes.....our beloved birds....Yesterday, these Falcons actually overwhelmed a fellow NFL team. The Kansas City Chiefs ........are pathetic. They may just be the worst team in the league........but .......a win.......is a win. And winning 38-14 is something to crow about.
The Emmy Awards were actually on TV?
So I've been told..........This year's Emmy Awards had the worst television rating in the history of the award show. Why? Have you seen the garbage network TV has been putting out the last few years? With the exception of a few excellent drama series, (House, Boston Legal...to name a few), this steady stream of stupid sit-coms coming out of Hollywood .......is just not working. Who still watches the networks? The best shows are on cable.....("Entourage" , " Curb your Enthusiasm", " The Soprano's".).........or in syndicated re-runs.....ala "Seinfeld"....etc. If it were not for sports......I would never tune in to NBC, CBS, ABC..........or FOX!
3-2..........is the best we could do.
Our Friday Picks results? Winners were: Troy (+20 1/2) over Ohio State........Florida (-7 1/2) over Tennessee ............and in the NFL, Tennessee (-5) over Houston. The losers? Virginia Tech finally played like they are capable of in beating North Carolina.....and Jacksonville came out of nowhere to upset the Indianapolis Colts. But.....we had a winning record.
