The "Payne" Truth
Last night, the ..."Association"...known around these parts as the NBA...held their annual draft.
Our beloved Atlanta Hawks had the 15th pick...and...
Selected a 4 year college player out of Michigan State.
His name is Adreian Payne and he is 6feet 10 inches tall.
The mere fact he stayed in college all 4 years should raise a red flag to the obvious.
But these are the Hawks. Mediocrity... win 40 games...make the playoffs...lose in the 1st round.
Nod....if you've heard this before.
We have no quarrel with Mr. Payne. Our quarrel lies with the Hawks management...or lack there of.
How many 7 feet stiffs...are already in this league? Riding the bench....night after night.
The league has changed. It's about who can shoot the three pointer....and who can get physical on defense. (See San Antonio vs. Miami).
The Hawks drafted a big man...They need scorers. Maybe this big man will make liars out of us and not only defend the paint...but shoot 3's too!
Wishful thinking?
Anyway here is Mr. Payne's bio...courtesy of Wikipedia:

We we hate Soccer...in the USA
America wins...when they lose?
The clock runs forward...instead of counting down?
They add...minutes to the game?
There are no...."TV" timeouts?
This...is ...us. We need structure.....4 quarters....a halftime show. A shot clock! Instant replay.
"Fut-ball" just doesn't do it.
AMERICA WINS 0 - 1

Hump Day...News & Views
Yes...we are a bit late. But only by a day. It is indeed summertime...in this small southern college town.
Forgive us for not posting more...but there are other things in life that takes away our precious time.
Jobs...family...friends. You understand, right?
Here's what we're "humping" on...today:

A Strange...Game 1
No air-conditioning...No LeBron ...No Miami victory.
Strange game last night. For three and a half quarters it was nip and tuck. Close.
100 degrees on the floor. Then James goes out.
Spurs win.
Strange game...this game 1!

"Cramping" ...His Style?
I have never had a cramp. But I have been around athletes who have...and women who have them monthly.
So all these haters? Take a chill pill. Give King James a break.
