Things From the Week-end...That Was

An interesting couple of days in this small, southern, college town...to say the least.

We saw the Atlanta Braves make another quick exit from yet another disappointing post season.

The University of Georgia was embarrassed on national television.......(Fire the whole coaching staff on this one.

And then ....when it looked so hopeless for this section of the deep south.....low and behold...The Atlanta Falcons went into Washington D. C.......and won!   The only unbeaten team in the NFC!

Perfect.....Through Five

My my...Thank God for the Falcons.   The Braves got eliminated from their short play-off run.  Ga Tech went down at Clemson....and the Ga Bulldogs got embarrassed at South Carolina.

Thank you Atlanta Falcons.   This week-end will not be a totally lost.   For the very first time in the history of their existence,  these birds are 5-0!

Not.......As Advertised

Number 5 in the nation?   Averaging 40 points a game?   Over 500 yards of offense a game?

Georgia?  Really?

South Carolina 35,  Georgia 7....and it wasn't even that close.

Carolina totally dominated this game and proved they are for real while these bulldogs aren't quite what was advertised.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Presented a big stage to validate itself as one of the nation’s elite teams, fifth-ranked Georgia looked entirely out of its element on Saturday night.

One....and Done!

It just doesn't seem fair.   Our beloved Atlanta Braves won 95 games in the regular season this year.  They made fewer errors than any team in baseball.  They sent a pitcher to the mound where the Braves had won their last 25 games he started.

Then....it was done.   6-3 Saint Louis.   In a one game play-off... there is no time...not to pitch, hit and field.

So the Braves make the play-offs...and are eliminated 4 hours later.

Oh well.....Man that hurts!

"Clueless" in Seattle

Last night on Monday Night Football...on the last play of the game...a funny thing happened.

The Seattle Sea Hawks beat the Green Bay Packers on a "Hail Mary" pass that looked to most of us like an interception.  One ref ruled it that way....while another ref signaled a touchdown.

These refs are replacement refs.......The regular refs are locked out in a contract dispute.

Here's how the headlines across American looked this morning:

Things From the Week-end....

Please excuse our inactivity here lately.    Been a little busy.   But the sporting world will go on.  With....or without us.

Here's an attempt to get back on board.   A few things from this past week-end:

Chad Johnson....is Still a Worthless...Punk

Hey....It is what it is...

I'm Taking Anger Management Classes

091912_chad_nlf_launch
Chad Johnson says he's enrolled in anger management classes ... to learn how to suppress his rage so he doesn't have another violent altercation like the one with his ex-wife.

Johnson made the announcement during an interview with James Brown on "Inside the NFL" ... saying, " I'm trying to find out how can I channel my anger when I'm in situations to where I would pop off."

During the interview, which airs tonight on Showtime, Johnson says he takes full responsibility for the headbutting incident with Evelyn Lozada ... and says, "I think what I need to do is work on Chad."

Johnson has been through anger counseling before -- as we previously reported, Chad was ordered to complete a domestic violence program after battering a former GF back in 2000.

Chad also says he believes the Miami Dolphins cut him from the team solely based on the domestic incident  and NOT because of his performance on the field.

"That was the reason ... there's no need to blow smoke up my ass."

We broke the story ... Johnson officially became a single man earlier today after a judge signed off on his divorce from Lozada ... a divorce he was trying like hell to prevent from happening.

Johnson says he's no longer on speaking terms with Evelyn ... explaining, "There's nothing I can say to her because she's already heard it all ... what can I say ... actions speak louder than words and this is the time for me to show action."

Remembering 9/11

Wow!   Has it really been eleven years?

Do you remember where you were?   What you were doing?

I remember.   Went to work that morning with the news that some idiot plane ran into one of the World Trade Center buildings.   Then things started to unravel.   Another plane hit.   Then another at the Pentagon.

The Mall I was in ....closed....shut down.    And for the next 24 hours my eyes were glued to the television.   It was the first and only time in my life time that all 300 + cable channels and regular channels were carrying the coverage of the event that forever changed our life style and country...the United States of America.

The country was united.   There were no Republicans or Democrats.   We were all Americans who shared this horrific tragedy.

We remember.....yesterday:

Over a span of three delightful days,   Our Braves swept the Mets 3 games to none.....Ga Tech won....Georgia won....And the Falcons won.

Doesn't get much better than this.

"Old Man Football" ... ain't Bad

Sometimes ...the less you say...the better.  The University of Missouri learned the hard way:

Up by 21 points with the clock winding down, Georgia's fan contingent, mostly concentrated in one corner of the end zone, chanted ''Old Man Football! Old Man Football!'' That was in reference to comments by excitable Missouri defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, who said he turned off the TV last week during Georgia's opening victory over Buffalo because he was unimpressed with the Bulldogs' no-frills style of play.
