R.I.P. Emanuel Steward

We hate these kind of posts...for...it means somebody died.  Someone won't wake up tomorrow and read anything.  They are dead.

Emanuel Steward was a boxing trainer.  Remember Thomas Hearns?   Evander Holyfield?  He was the trainer in their respective corners.

Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and close friends.

Hey...it is .....what it is...

exclusive

Evander Holyfield
is ready to get back in the ring ... the singles ring ... because the boxing champ just finalized his divorce -- TWO YEARS after it was originally filed.

If you recall ... Candi Holyfield pulled the plug on the marriage back in June 2010. That same year, she attempted to obtain a protective order against the boxer, claiming he hit her in the head, face and back ... an attempt she later dropped.

All that's behind them now... the divorce was finalized in Georgia Superior Court last month. Evander and Candi were able to come to a settlement agreement on issues of child support, custody, alimony and property division.

It's unclear who got what, but there's definitely a lot less to divvy up ... Evander's $14 million GA mansion was just foreclosed on earlier this year and Candi filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy back in May.

So ... eHarmony?

From the New York Daily News:

The 109-room mansion sits on 235 acres near Fairburn. The investment firm purchased it for $7.5 million at a foreclosure auction in March, but Chase spokesman Greg Hassell says the company gave Holyfield several months to move.

Holyfield reportedly owes more than $14 million on the house, including federal taxes. TMZ reports he also owes many back child support payments.

The former heavyweight champion is from Atmore, Ala.

Things ....We Learned......From the Week-end

Today......we feel smarter....for we learned a few things...

Holyfield, 47, Wins by Knockout

The 47-year-old former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield (43-10-2, 28 knockouts) knocked out 41-year-old Frans Botha (47-5-3) of South Africa with 2 minutes 5 seconds left in the eighth round Saturday night in Las Vegas. It was Holyfield’s first fight since Dec. 20, 2008.

Wow.....is Holyfield still fighting?

Baseball is back!  The boys of summer have begun their marathon run.....of fun.   My beloved Atlanta Braves are 3-3.   Thus .....a .500 team.   No more...no less.

Tiger......is .....still ....Tiger.   Stripes don't change....Tiger Woods is ultra competitive.  And after taking 3 months off,  he shoots an 11 under par to place 3rd at the Masters.   And ....he drops a few "f-bombs" along the way.

Phil Michelson .....is a great golfer......and a likable human.   We have new found respect for Phil.  His wife and mother are both fighting breast cancer.   And Phil continues to fight the demons that say he can't win the big ones.   Well,  yesterday.....Mr. Phil.....won the Masters.

This yellowish green dust.......known to us down here as....pollen....is getting on my last nerve.

Spring is nice......don't you think?   75 degrees......clear......no humidity?

I'm smarter.....are you?

The Real Deal????

Seems .....Evander Holyfield and his wife ......missed the memo.

The one where Dr. Phil is going through his own ugly divorce.   And they want him......to counsel .....them?

Really?

Evander & Wife -- Only Dr. Phil Can Save Us!

Evander Holyfield and his wife Candi are desperately trying to work out their marriage woes -- but the boxer believes the only way it can be saved is with the help of one Dr. Phil McGraw.

Evander Holyfield, Dr. Phil and Candi

Just days after Candi agreed to drop her request for a protective order against Evander, the two issued a joint statement saying, "We are in agreement that we both are moving forward to reach out to meet with Dr. Phil one-on-one as we believe he is the one who can help us at this time."

The couple added, "We each admire and respect Dr. Phil for his down to earth and heartfelt approach in working with couples and relationships in a positive and uplifting way."

The "Real Deal"........in a "Real Mess"

Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield............

Lost a fight last night. He was pitted against a man who out weighed him by almost 100 pounds and was 10 years younger. The 7 foot Russian, Nicolei Valuev...........won the bout with a majority decision, and ended Holyfield's quest for yet another heavy weight title.

Holyfield, who would have become the oldest heavyweight champion in history had he won the World Boxing Association title, ruled out retirement, while his management team insisted their man had been 'robbed'.

Holyfield, who now has 10 defeats on his career record of 42 fights, was gracious in defeat. He said: "I thought I had won the fight, I thought I had won more rounds than he did. My goal is to be heavyweight champion of the world, I am not interested in fighting for the sake of it, I want to be a champion again. That hasn't changed."

Evander..........Evander..........wake up..........smell the coffee.....

You are 46 years old.....you have 11 illegitimate kids..........you live in a multi-million dollar mansion.........which requires millions in up-keep expenses........ You have no marketable skills out side of boxing. And this pay day was for only $500,000 .........and.......you lost.

Mr. Holyfield..........retire..........hire a lawyer.......renegotiate your child support payments....sell that mansion...........

And then .......call up George Foreman...........and see if ..........you and he...........can successfully market ..........a "Holyfield Grill"..........or........maybe..........a line of "The Real Deal"..........playing cards.

Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?

The year was 2004.....

Ebony magazine had an article featuring Evander Holyfield. Here are some of the highlights :

Ebony, April, 2004 by Kevin Chappell

BY all accounts, Evander Holyfield was never supposed to be much of anything. Born in Atmore, Ala., one of nine children reared by a single mother with a sixth-grade education, he was told over and over again that he was too poor, too inarticulate, too Black to break the grip of poverty and despair. But armed with a strong faith in a higher being, a strong belief in himself, and a strong chin, Holyfield defied the odds, rewrote boxing history, and earned more than $150 million.

Today, home for Holyfield is a 54,000-square-foot estate on 235 acres outside of Atlanta. One of the biggest homes in the Southeast, it boasts a mind-boggling 109 rooms, including 11 bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, a bowling alley, Olympic-size pool and a stable stocked with a half-dozen horses.
Inside the home, a double-spiral staircase at the foot of a three-story rotunda greets visitors. The foyer features a baby grand piano. The dining room seats more than two dozen people. There is even an elevator for easy access to each floor.

Now.......

Fast forward 4 years for this article which appeared in today's Wall Street Journal:

A Knock Out: Evander Holyfield Facing Foreclosure

The last time Evander Holyfield was making big news, he had just had his ear gnawed off by Mike Tyson in their now infamous “Bite Fight” — a boxing match that ended when Mr. Tyson was disqualified for biting off Mr. Holyfield’s ear in 1997. He reportedly earned $34 million for the bout.

That haul appears to be gone. The Associated Press is reporting that the former heavyweight champion’s $10 million estate in suburban Atlanta is in foreclosure. A legal notice that ran Wednesday in a small local paper said that Mr. Holyfield’s estate will be auctioned off at a local courthouse on July 1.

The foreclosure is just one of the former heavyweight’s financial woes: A federal lawsuit was filed about two weeks ago in Utah seeking repayment of $550,000 in loans allegedly made to Mr. Holyfield in late 2006 and early 2007 to pay for landscaping on his 235-acre estate. And the mother of one of his children is suing for unpaid child support.

Wow........what difference 4 years can make....

But wait........there's more! Evander speaks out.......Breaking news from the Atlanta Journal Constitution web site:

Holyfield: 'I'm not broke'

Boxing icon Evander Holyfield says he's "not broke," and that he's always taken care of his children, despite reports this week that the three-time world champion's 109-room mansion in Fairburn was in foreclosure and that he's behind in child support payments.

"I'm not broke. I'm just not liquid," Holyfield told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Friday. "I do feel kind of sad because things have always been positive and now everybody wants to jump on me like I'm the worst person in the world and I went out and blew all my money."

On Friday, Philip Hasty, an attorney for Shapiro & Swertfeger in Atlanta, the law firm representing Holyfield's lending company, confirmed that the estate is no longer up for auction. Hasty said that the change happened Thursday morning but he declined to comment further.

Holyfield would not elaborate on the foreclosure listing but said "everything is alright with the house now."

So........there!

But answer me this........How can a person blow $248 million ? And if one has made $248 million and the house is worth just $10 million...........why did he still have payments?

Why was there even a hint of a foreclosure?

I always thought the Mr. Holyfield had surrounded himself with reputable people who looked out for his best interest.

But as Evander reminded us, "I'm not broke....I'm just not liquid."

Well......Mr. Holyfield .....lets hope you get .........liquified.......and ....liquidated....quickly.
