These "Dawgs"...are Just..."Dogs"

The University of Georgia's football team has sank to a new low.  Bad offense, bad defense, bad special teams.

And most of all....bad coaching.

From the Athens Banner Herald:

A Costly Celebration

They say if you live long enough...you're liable to see everything.  Well,  what we saw Saturday night in Clemson, South Carolina...is one for the ages.

The University of Georgia not only lost a football game...but lost their leading receiver.

Some time...some where...a long time ago....Georgia must have upset the college football gods.   This kind of thing just doesn't happen.

Bad karma?  Bad coaching?  Bad common sense?

From the Athens Banner Herald:

Jubilation turns to frustration as UGA's Mitchell tears ACL, out for season

Georgia must not only shake off its season-opening loss but come to grips with the absence of one of its best players for Saturday's game against No. 6 South Carolina and the rest of the season.

A "Dog Day"...Night

Strange night.   A Georgia basketball team beat Kentucky.   The big blue.  The defending National Champs.

The University of Georgia views its men's basketball team as an after thought.  Something to bide ones time before the main course....FOOTBALL.

Georgia is a mediocre 16-16...in a so-so conference.

But hey...they beat Kentucky:

Finish with flourish: Georgia tops Kentucky in last home game

The Kentucky Wildcats that visited Stegeman Coliseum Thursday night won't be found ranked in the top 25.

"Cam'ed" In Carolina

This could possibly be the worst 11-2 team in NFL history.   The Atlanta Falcons were out coached,  out played,  out "Cam'ed"....in just about every sense yesterday.

Carolina scored on their first 4 possessions in route to a 16-0 halftime lead.

It only got worse in the second half.  Cam Newton torch the birds with a 72 yard touchdown run. Quickly it was 23-0.

The Falcons would eventually wake up out of their funk to make the final score a little more respectable.

But make no mistake about it....They got whipped.   And yes they're 11-2....but!

ROAD WOES: Cam Newton, Panthers stun Falcons

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It's one loss. And in the eyes of the Atlanta Falcons, it's certainly not time to panic. Their 30-20 defeat Sunday came at the hands of the Carolina Panthers, a team that had won just three games.

Hold Your Head Up....UGA!

Wow!   What a game.  The University of Georgia played the University of Alabama yesterday in a game the will go down in history as one of the greatest...ever.

Somebody had to win....somebody had to lose.

Two heavyweights.  The SEC.

Georgia came up...5 yards short.

What a game!

Congrats! Andy Landers!

We have on occasion,  been kind of rough on the subject of women's basketball.   But, be that as it may,  we must recognize a very special feat.

Last night, coach Andy Landers of the University of Georgia Lady Bulldogs earned his 800th career win.

Coach, we salute you!

Landers earns win No. 800 as Lady Dogs rout Savannah State

Andy Landers has been so reluctant to talk about an approaching career milestone, he didn't say one word about it to his players.

As Easy as 1-2-3

The University of Georgia has a seemingly simple task.    1-2-3....as in winning it's next 3 games to become college footballs'  National Champion.

Beat Georgia Tech this week....Beat Alabama next week...And these Bulldogs will play for the BCS title.

Simply....amazing!

No. 3 Bulldogs back in national championship talks, but Richt focused on Georgia Tech

Georgia holds its own national title fate just in time for some "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate." The Bulldogs are in position to play for their first BCS national championship Jan.

Same Old....Georgia

The natives are getting a little bit restless...in this small, southern college town.

Here we go again.   Georgia....contender or pretender?

Georgia ...once again gets a high profile game with a high profile opponent.   Last time this happened....UGA sleptwalked  through a 35-7 dismantling at the hands of South Carolina.

This time it's Florida in the annual "cocktail party down in Jacksonville.

Georgia...supposedly has all those "NFL"  athletes.  Top 10 recruiting classes.  Unlimited resources.

Yet......when  given the opportunity to turn heads on a national stage...these dogs turn into pups.

Saturday.....we shall see.

Bulldogs face tough task in No. 3 Gators

Georgia will finish the month of October just how it began the month - with a high-profile game against an unbeaten opponent.

Not.......As Advertised

Number 5 in the nation?   Averaging 40 points a game?   Over 500 yards of offense a game?

Georgia?  Really?

South Carolina 35,  Georgia 7....and it wasn't even that close.

Carolina totally dominated this game and proved they are for real while these bulldogs aren't quite what was advertised.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Presented a big stage to validate itself as one of the nation’s elite teams, fifth-ranked Georgia looked entirely out of its element on Saturday night.

"Nats"....Are Very ...Irritating

We all hate gnats.....now we hate "Nats".

"Nats"...short for the baseball Washington Nationals....are a pain in our rear end.

Our beloved Atlanta Braves can't seem to beat these guys.   The Bravos are now 6 games behind them thanks to last nights 13 inning ordeal.

From the Athens Banner-Herald:

Tracy's 13th-inning single lifts Nationals over Braves

WASHINGTON - Chad Tracy singled in the 13th inning to score Danny Espinosa and lift the Washington Nationals to a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.

It's Good to be a Georgia Bulldog

Yeah....this one is personal.   A University of Georgia grad does great in these London Olympics.

0 For Monday Night

Mondays are not fun days......for the Atlanta Braves.

For whatever reason....these braves can't seem to win on Mondays.

What the problem is.....guys?

A Total Waste of Talent

Some people just don't get it.   Here's a guy with all he God given talent one could ever hope for...And what does he do?

He makes stupid decisions and hangs with the wrong crowd.

Two years ago,  Isaiah Crowell  the number 1 ranked  high school running back nation.

Today.....he is facing felony weapons charges.....locked up in the Athens-Clarke County jail.

What a waste of talent.

From the Athens Banner Herald:

Crowell dismissed from UGA football team following gun arrest

Isaiah Crowell has been dismissed from the Georgia football team after an early Friday morning arrest on weapons charges.
Crowell, who was a rising sophomore tailback, was stopped at a police checkpoint near the University of Georgia campus.

A Rivelry.....Gone Bad

That ..."North Avenue Trade School".....has had a rough 11 years.

The University of Georgia has defeated its arch rival ...10 of the last 11 meetings.

This past Saturday....the "Dawgs" put a beat down on Tech ...31-17.

And it wasn't even that close.   UGA has bigger and faster athletes... They stopped that vaunted triple option offense and made the Jackets one dimensional.

It got ugly....

Winning Ugly.....But SEC East Champs....Again

On a cold gray autumn day......in this small southern college town....

The Georgia Bulldogs beat a determined and stubborn Kentucky team to clinch the eastern division of the SEC.

It wasn't pretty......but a win is a win.

From the Athens Banner Herald:

Georgia beats Kentucky, 19-10, wins SEC East

ATHENS, Ga. — Aaron Murray threw a touchdown pass to Marlon Brown on the first play of the fourth quarter, Blair Walsh kicked four field goals and No. 13 Georgia beat Kentucky 19-10 today to clinch a spot in the SEC championship game.

It's About ....Damn Time!!!

Finally......

After losing 18 of the last 21 games against Florida......Georgia wins!

Despite giving up a 91 yard kick-off return.......missing 2 field goals.......and a quarterback who struggled mightily .......

Georgia found a was to win.

From the Athens Banner Herald:

Richt, Bulldogs leave Jacksonville jubilant after rare win over Gators

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - There's something about beating Florida that brings out the raw emotion in Georgia coach Mark Richt and his family. His 15-year old son Zach jumped to hug him after the No. 22 Bulldogs' 24-20 win Saturday.

Saturday, October 1, 2011

A Win....is a Win.....

So.......Georgia wins again.....against an SEC rival.....

It was not pretty.....but it was a win.

The Georgia defense.....once again...pitched a shut out...

However.......the offense?

Aaron Murray needs to stop thinking he's ...one Matthew Stafford......3 more picks?

Note to Aaron: "Your arm strength ......is no Stafford.  Quit trying to force the ball."

All in all......the "dawgs" have won 3 in a row.  Not bad...

In the SEC......a win...is a win.

Georgia starts fast, defeats Mississippi State

Over......and Done!

Just like that.....the play-off lights of the Atlanta Braves....went dark.

On a clear September autumn evening.....these Braves finished their season....as it started.

Not winning a darn thing!

Frustrating.....heart wrenching.......just pitiful!

A Brave New World

After 7 months....161 games.....it all comes down to game 162.

The Atlanta Braves have squandered a seemingly un-catchable  lead.

And now.....their fate lies in a team with 105 losses (Houston).

Excuse me if I kick these Braves ......under the bus.

Excuse me if I drive said bus....over the Braves.

This is pathetic.
