A ..."Choke" sign.....Or......signs of the Times

What the problem is?

An assistant coach.....made a "choke" sign....It was caught on tape....and all hell is breaking loose.

Again......what the problem is?

In a 31-31 overtime game....Georgia Defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham,  gave a choke sign to Florida's   field goal kicker....

Reading his lips....he said, "You're gonna f*#ing....choke.

What the problem is?

It's the heat of battle......in a game.....played by humans....

From the AJC:

Todd Grantham appears to be giving "choke" sign before Florida lines up for field goal attempt.

Get over it......

We have.   It's really no big deal.   Grantham did what we all have done when we've played the game.

Why ....Georgia.....is just .....Average

There is a lot of speculation.....regarding the University of Georgia's football woes.

Coaching......Talent....or lack of.......

And then it struck me......when I saw ......this photo:

Nothing against.....white people.....but......this is the face of Georgia....and it's hopes.  A white......wide receiver......their leading receiver.

And then it hit me.   This......is Georgia.    The "good old boys".   Still living in the 50's and 60's ......a "lily white" .....Georgia.

So they lost ....A. J. Green.........you mean to tell me.......your next best.....is a white boy?

In the so called "skilled" positions.....Alabama,  Florida and LSU......recruit......"brothers"....

Black athletes.........who can run.....Their depth charts are 2 to 3 deep......"brothers".    Georgia chooses to put their trusts.......in .......the "lily white"......

Do you actually think.......this Durham guy.......would even make the team on Florida?  Or ...Alabama?

But ......the powers that be.......for years.......and years........have vacated spots for these Durham type guys......

And for Florida.....and LSU......and Alabama........there have been multiple national championships.

For Georgia?    Mediocrity.........

Just....Average.

In a state that produces more NFL players......than any outside Florida, California and Texas........

We now know why Georgia......will always......be average.....at best.

The truth hurts.

When you are the subject.......of a TMZ.com......Headline....

It's never a good thing:

U. of Georgia Investigates Football Star

TMZ has learned the University of Georgia is investigating whether football star A.J. Green partied on South Beach at the same bash that's launched investigations at three other colleges.

0721_green_UGA_EXD_getty

A source closely connected to Georgia's athletic department tells TMZ the wide receiver allegedly attended a party at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami on Memorial Day weekend.  Partying alone isn't a crime under NCAA rules -- Green is 21 years old -- but if someone (like an agent or financial advisor) paid for anything related to Green's trip ... that could be a violation.

We're told a member of the coaching staff spoke directly to Green to ask him about the party -- and he denied being in Miami at all that weekend.

According to SI.com the NCAA plans to look into sports agent violations at UGA. It's unclear if Green is part of that investigation.

The University's Compliance Department told TMZ on Tuesday, "This is the first we've heard of anything involving A.J. Green."

In recent weeks, there have been reports that three other schools -- South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama -- are also investigating athletes for attending the same Miami party.

A Diamond in the Rough?

Personally............

I really don't care much for college baseball. I call it the "ping" league......As in that awful "ping" sound those aluminum bats make when it comes in contact with a baseball.

Plus.......all the great prospects and best players are scooped up by major league franchises and signed to minor league contracts to hone and develop their skills.......with wooden bats....thank you.....

That being said.......the University of Georgia baseball team.....known affectionately around here as the "Diamond Dawgs"....sure put on a show these last 3 days.

Georgia ( SEC regular season champs) hosted a Regional in Athens......and promptly lost the first game of the double elimination tournament in the first game played. That meant the Dogs could not lose again.....they had to win out.

And win..........they did. Saturday saw Georgia come from behind to beat Louisville. Sunday the Dogs won the rematch with Lipscomb and the shut out Georgia Tech that night.

In Monday night's final........again the Dogs were matched against their fierce rivals.....those Yellow Jackets from Atlanta. The stars were aligned ........Georgia destroyed Tech, 18-6.

Next..........The Dogs host N C State in a Super Regional.....the winner goes on to Omaha, Nebraska..........host of the College World Series.......

Who knows?

Diamond in the rough?
