I Think We ...Pissed Him Off
Well... well....well.

There's no "crying"....in Basketball!
These guys get on my last nerve. Paid millions to play a game......worshiped by fans and females.....

Kendrick Perkins Cries After Getting Traded: Celtics Emotional After Trade Deadline

"There was a lot of crying, lot of hugging going on," Perkins said before his former team left to go play the Denver Nuggets. "And a lot of it was me."
Perkins, who had played for the Celtics for seven years, was dealt to Oklahoma City along with Nate Robinson in exchange for forward Jeff Green.
"I miss them," Perkins said. "I ain't gonna lie. I'm gonna miss the hell out of them. It's going to be hard leaving them behind, leaving this team behind and the fans and this city. But this is a business, and being traded is part of that business."
His Boston teammates were also upset with the trade.
"It's not even about a teammate. It felt like you lost a family member today," Kevin Garnett said after Boston's 89-75 loss to Denver. "Tough day."
Paul Pierce talked about trusting team president Danniy Ainge and coach Doc Rivers: "We trust in them. It is what it is. We can't use any excuses, cry over spilled milk."

A Gutless....Effort!!!
Last night....at Philips Arena....The Atlanta Hawks lost to the Boston Celtics, 99-76....in a game that was not nearly that close.

Gutless......pitiful......lackluster......embarrassing.
You pick the adjective or adverb. At the end of the 1st quarter it was 39-13, Boston. At the end of 3.....the Hawks trailed, 85-56.
And the Celtics did this with their best player, Rajon Rondo, sitting on the bench nursing a hamstring. His replacement..... Nate Robinson (all 5' 9") ran circles around Hawk defenders and scored 16 points while dishing out 10 assists.
And the Hawks?
Joe Johnson????.....the highest paid player in the league this year.....6 points. For the entire game.
This team is a dumpster fire. We called it the moment the Hawks went cheap....and promoted Larry Drew from assistant to head coach. From being these guys big brother...to now....their father.
It does not work ....at this level. These players don't fear him....or heed him.
Last night.....the Hawks needed a swift kick in the ass from a strong head coach.
Instead......they got this......from Drew:
“Very embarrassing. Very, very embarrassing. Very embarrassing. If I had to sum it up in one word: Embarrassing.”
Mark Bradley of the AJC had this to say, " It took the Hawks six years to stop listening to Mike Woodson. It has taken one month for them to tune out his successor. To say the effort the Hawks gave against the Boston Celtics on Monday night was amateurish is to discredit the concept of amateurism and to distort the meaning of “effort.”

1959: BOSTON CELTICS 4, MINNEAPOLIS LAKERS 0
Memorable moments: Elgin Baylor, then a rookie from Seattle University, took a Lakers team that had gone 19-53 the year before and led them into the playoffs, then into the NBA Finals. But once there, Baylor was neutralized by the Celtics. Boston coach Red Auerbach had Jim Loscutoff start on him; Tommy Heinsohn followed and sixth-man Frank Ramsey cleaned up. After Game 4, the Celtics carried Auerbach and his victory cigar off the court, celebrating what was the first sweep in the history of the NBA Finals.
1962: CELTICS 4, LAKERS 3
Memorable moments: With the series tied, 2-2, Baylor scored 61points - then a playoff record - as the Lakers won in Boston and moved within one victory of slaying the Celtics. "We'll win it now," Lakers coach Fred Schaus said. Sorry, Fred. In Game 6, the Celtics' Sam Jones scored 35points as Boston won by 14 in Los Angeles. For Game 7, PFC Elgin Baylor, an Army reservist, was granted a second special pass from Seattle's Fort Lewis to play. He scored 41 points, Jerry West added 35 and the Celtics had big foul trouble. The Lakers' Frank Selvy took a jumper at the end of regulation that would have won it. The ball rimmed out. The Celtics prevailed by three points in overtime. Bill Russell had 30points and 40rebounds.
1963: CELTICS 4, LAKERS 2
Memorable moments: The Lakers lost Game 4 in Los Angeles to trail the series,
3-1, and the focus afterward was on one play. With 5 1/2 minutes left and the Lakers down by five, Baylor collided inside with Russell. He hit a short hook shot on the play, but referee Richie Powers called Baylor for an offensive foul. It sapped the steam from the Lakers. Baylor finished with 31 points and 19 rebounds. Heinsohn countered with 35 points. The Lakers fought off elimination in Game 5, with Baylor's 43 points, but Boston won Game 6 on the road. "Los Angeles isn't the basketball capital of the world yet," Auerbach gloated afterward.
1965: CELTICS 4, LAKERS 1
Memorable moments: With Baylor out for the series with a broken kneecap, Boston won the opener at home by 32 points - scoring 142 points, topping their own record by two. The Lakers won the third game but in Game4, Sam Jones had 37 points for the Celtics, who took a 13-point win and a 3-1 series lead. Back in the Garden for Game 5, West had 33 points. But Boston opened the fourth quarter with 10straight field goals and held L.A. scoreless for five minutes. The Celtics won by 33. Russell had 22points and 30rebounds.
1966: CELTICS 4, LAKERS 3
Memorable moments: West had 41 points and Baylor had 36 in the Lakers' Game 1 victory, but the Celtics won the next three games. The Lakers rebounded and won Game 5 when West broke a 115-all tie on a jumper with 35 seconds left. The Lakers then forced a seventh game with an eight-point victory at home, but in the decisive game in Boston the Celtics won their eighth consecutive title. Down by 16 points entering the fourth quarter, the Lakers outscored Boston, 33-19, in the final 12 minutes but it wasn't enough. West had 36 points, but Russell created his usual havoc with 25 points and 32 rebounds.
1968: CELTICS 4, LAKERS 2
Memorable moments: The Lakers evened the series with a Game 4 victory in Los Angeles. West scored 38 points, but he left with 44 seconds to go after spraining his ankle in a collision with John Havlicek. Don Nelson, who had been waived by the Lakers in 1965, scored 26 points to help Boston to a 120-117 OT win in Game5. Boston won Game 6 in L.A., in a rout. West, limping up and down court, scored 22 points. Havlicek had 40 points for the Celtics, who led by as many as 21points in the fourth quarter before settling for a 15-point victory.
1969: CELTICS 4, LAKERS 3 Memorable moments: The Lakers put themselves on the verge of a championship with a Game 5 victory in Los Angeles. They took advantage of Russell (seven points, 13 boards) being in foul trouble in the second half. West had 28 of his 39 points in the second half, but he pulled a hamstring late in the game, which would hurt the Lakers later on. Wilt Chamberlain had 31rebounds. The Lakers lost Game6 by nine points but, anticipating the end of the Celtics' hex in Game 7, Lakers owner Jack Kent Cooke had balloons tied to the Forum's rafters and arranged for the USC marching band to play "Happy Days Are Here Again." The band was never needed. In the third quarter, the Lakers missed 15 straight field goals as Boston took a 91-76 lead and cruised to victory. "What are they going to do with all those ... balloons now?" Auerbach said. "And all that champagne?"
1984: CELTICS 4, LAKERS 3
Memorable moments: After missing a great chance to win Game 2 in overtime and take a 2-0 series lead, the Lakers won Game3, 137-104, Boston's worst Finals defeat ever. Larry Bird called his teammates "sissies." The Celtics evened the series in Game 4 in overtime in a game best remembered for Cedric Maxwell making a choking gesture as Worthy shot free throws in OT and for Kevin McHale's clothesline tackle of Kurt Rambis. That play inspired the "McHale Rule," protecting players from flagrant fouls. Returning to Boston for Game 5 with the series tied, the Lakers felt the heat, literally. It was 97 degrees in the Garden at game time. Larry Bird scored 34 points in the Boston victory. The Celtics, leading Game 6 by 11 in the third quarter, started celebrating too early. Rookie Byron Scott came off the bench and scored 11 points in 17 minutes, including a 3-pointer with 6:37 left that broke a 93-93 tie and helped the Lakers to a 119-106 victory. Trailing by 13points going into the fourth quarter of Game 7, the Lakers pulled within three but lost, 111-102.
1985: LAKERS 4, CELTICS 2
Memorable moments: In what became known as the "Memorial Day Massacre," the Celtics took a 30-point halftime lead and whipped the Lakers at the Garden in Game1, 148-114. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who had been held to 12 points and three rebounds in the opener, led the Lakers back in Game 2 with 30points, 17 rebounds, eight assists and three blocked shots. The teams split the first two games at the Forum to even the series, 2-2. The Lakers led Game 5 by 18 points early in the second half, saw their lead cut to four but held on to win. The Celtics' mystique officially ended two days later in Boston. The Lakers won their fourth NBA title, their first from Boston, with a 111-100 win at the Garden. "The victory is sweeter now because we've broken the stranglehold, the dynasty on us," Lakers coach Pat Riley said. "There comes a time when you have to plant your feet firmly, take a stand and kick some butt. That's what we did."
1987: LAKERS 4, CELTICS 2
Memorable moments: Everything went the Lakers' way during the first two games at the Forum. Johnson had 29 points, 13assists, eight rebounds and zero turnovers in Game 1 and Abdul-Jabbar had 23points in the Lakers' Game 2 rout. Larry Bird scored 30 points to give the Celtics some life in the series with a Game3 victory, and Boston led by as many as 16 points in Game 4 before the Lakers rallied. In the closing seconds, the Lakers trailed by one but Johnson made what he called a "junior, junior, junior skyhook" over the fingertips of Robert Parish and the Lakers won, 107-106, to take a 3-1 series lead. Boston stayed alive with a 15-point Game 5 victory but the Lakers closed out the series in Game 6 in L.A. Abdul-Jabbar had 32 points and Johnson wrapped up the Finals MVP award with 16points, 19 assists and eightrebounds.
Memorable moments: For the first time in 21 years, the Lakers and Celtics were back in the Finals together, but nothing defined this matchup more than the deciding Game 6, in which the Celtics laid a 131-92 whipping on the Lakers to win their 17th NBA title. The Celtics, who added All-Stars Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett to assist Paul Pierce during the offseason, led by as many as 43 points in the game, their toughness and experience overwhelming the Lakers, whose run to the Finals was spurred by the addition of Pau Gasol in a midseason trade with Memphis.
Pierce was named MVP of the series while Ray Allen tied a single-game record for 3-pointers made in the clincher with seven, in the process breaking the record for 3-pointers made in a NBA Finals series with 22. The 39-point differential in Game 6 was the largest in a clinching game in NBA Finals history and the second largest for any Finals game.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Coach Doc Rivers said the Celtics [team stats] made it tough on themselves by losing Game 4, but this is where the true muddle begins.
The C’s lost two important members of their Dwight Howard defense in last night’s 113-92 Game 5 loss at Amway Arena to the Magic, who have climbed back to within 3-2 in the Eastern Conference finals after dropping the first three games. Kendrick Perkins [stats] was lost in the second quarter following his sixth and seventh technical fouls of the postseason, then Glen Davis departed with a concussion at the end of the third after taking a Howard elbow to the mouth and losing a tooth.
The theme continued when Marquis Daniels left with a concussion early in the fourth, which was followed by an Orlando run-off against a downsized Celtics team that seemed to take their cue from Davis and Daniels.
The biggest blow was the one delivered to Perkins, who faces a one-game suspension for going over the NBA’s six technical foul postseason limit, though the team is sure to appeal the damning call made by referee Ed F. Rush.
Add in a recurrence of back trouble that sent Rasheed Wallace to the locker room, and for the Celtics, for all of their health issues during the regular season, never has an exodus from the floor been more pronounced.
“It will be our Game 7. We can’t come back here,” Ray Allen said of Game 6 tomorrow night at the Garden.
The Celtics also can’t continue to defend this way.
The C’s troubles set a nice backdrop for a signature performance from the Magic, who shot 13-for-25 (52 percent) from downtown, hitting seemingly every open shot, and once again fed off the aggression of Jameer Nelson, who finished with 24 points (4-for-5 on 3-point attempts) and five assists. “Our goal was five (Magic 3’s),” Rivers said. “They played a great game tonight, but a lot of the 3’s they had were also extra effort plays. The biggest was (Matt) Barnes’ 3 when we cut it to six in the third. He gets an offensive rebound - we don’t close out - there were five seconds on the shot clock, and he gets the 3 and gets them comfortable again.
“They are a great team when they get a lead, because then those 3’s are easy. And I thought we never supplied any pressure to them in the game tonight. We made runs, but no real pressure.
“It’s very difficult to score when you’re taking the ball out of bounds every time.”
Rashard Lewis opened the fourth quarter with his most prolific run of the series, scoring Orlando’s first seven points against a small Celtics lineup. Daniels, poked in the eye while being called for traveling and also diagnosed with a concussion, joined Perkins and Davis in the locker room.
The game descended into a mess of physicality from there, with the Magic parlaying Lewis’ hot opening spurt into a 15-4 run that put the C’s to bed.
Wallace became the fourth Celtic to leave the game, this time with six fouls, after delivering a hard foul to Jameer Nelson. The back issue sent Wallace to spend the game’s final moments with Perkins, Davis and Daniels.
The C’s will seemed to have left the floor long before that.
Like it or not, that will has re-emerged on the Orlando side of the floor.

Welcome Back.........NBA!
It's.........opening night.....
Game on
For the game in which we.........created. America's own sport.....invented in a gym.....with a peach basket and a round ball.
It has indeed evolved........The best athletes on the planet ........play this game....
It's international........and growing stronger by each year. The NBA is thriving .......and there have been changes........the 24 second clock.......the 3 point shot........a dress code for players entering an arena.......even a new ball (introduced last year, only to be thrown out).....
But that's our NBA.......and oh how we love it.
Five Questions......we hope will be answered after 82 regular season games.....and a the marathon post season:
1. Will the LA Lakers........repeat?
2. Can Shaq lead King James and the Cavs'.......to the promise land?
3. Will Boston's "big 3" let Rasheed Wallace ....play with their ball?
4. Will the Orlando Magic.....prove that last year .....was no fluke?
5. Will my beloved Atlanta Hawks........get to the next level?

An Early Season Statement?
Rarely...........
Do I watch an NBA game from tip-off to finish. But last night was an exception. The undefeated Atlanta Hawks with their talented array of young studs took on the defending world champions.....
You remember these guys. Led by former Hawk player and now Celtics' head coach, Doc Rivers........Led by the "big three"....as in Kevin Garnett , Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen.
Yes..........the Boston Celtics.
This was a great game. The Hawks came out playing the way they have played thus far in the young season. Defense.......Ball movement..........unselfish play.
Atlanta was up by as many as 16 points in the 2nd quarter......but........Boston fought back to tie it up at 51 all at the half.
The 2nd half had more lead changes than a NASCAR race at Daytona.
And in the end ..........with about 7 seconds left......Marvin Williams hit a corner three pointer to put the Hawks up 102-100.
And then .........it was "Pierce Time"..........Paul Pierce calmly ..........fearlessly..........connected on a 20 foot jumper with 0.5 seconds left to give the Celtics a 103-102 win.
Statement?
Yes........but .......by whom?
Sure, the Celtics won the game..........but the statement was made.......by Atlanta.
They out-played the world champions for 47 minutes and 59.5 seconds.
But an NBA game is a full 48........and they will learn from this.
Point is ...........the Celtics now know.......Atlanta is for real....The Hawks know.......and now...the rest of the NBA knows.

Finally........the Finals
At last........finally......The NBA final is here. Well, sort of. Game 1 of the championship series won't be played until Thursday, but at least we know the match-up.
This is the series we've been awaiting........East versus West.......... Beantown versus Hollywood....
The Celtics and Lakers are meeting for an unprecedented 11th time. Boston has won 16 championships, the Lakers, 14.

Hot Night.......In "Hotlanta"...
I was........very tired last night.....
I think I might have even dosed off for a moment or two. Was I dreaming? The Atlanta Hawks were playing the Boston Celtics in game four of the NBA eastern conference playoffs.
The Hawks had lost the first two in Boston by scores of 104-81 and 96-77. Par for the course in match-ups featuring the number one seed against the number eight seed.
Then....in game three........Saturday night.....in Atlanta......in the Omni..........Did I say "Omni".......I meant Philips Arena. (It's been a long time since Atlanta was in the play-offs).
Something magical happened......There was ........NOISE! There was electricity in the building. These young, athletic, and talented Hawks played the Celtics even through three quarters and ended up winning ........102-93.
Which brings us to last night......The ESPN talking heads had said all the Hawks did Saturday was awaken a sleeping giant. Rookie Al Horford talking trash to Celtics' All-star Paul Pierce.....was just plain stupid. "Pierce might score 40 points in game four".
Well..........Game four.....was last night. And.....a funny thing happened ......in "Hotlanta". The crowd at Philips was even louder than Saturday. And these young Hawks..........were not intimidated .
Josh Smith was ....the ...... "intimidater "............blocking 7 shots.....and making Celt star Kevin Garnett think twice.......before entering the lane.
But Boston .....is Boston. In the third quarter, the Celtics executed on both defense and offense and surged to a 10 point lead.
This.......I think is when I dosed off. But.....I was awake when the Hawks outscored the Celtics 32-17 in the final quarter. But .....it was all so surreal ...........It was like a dream...Like being in the afore mentioned Omni........With Dominic Wilkins and Steve Smith.....in the '90's.
Joe Johnson........showed........out! The Hawks........talented.....but young......gave Johnson the ball......and the game in that final quarter. And Joe......wasn't average. He was spectacular! Johnson scored 20 of his 35 points in that said quarter.....and willed this young team to a stunning 97-92 victory over those heavily favored Celtics to even this series a
t two games apiece.
No...........it was not a dream. Yes.....this is real. The City of Atlanta is alive..........
You could see it in the eyes of the Celtics........You could see it in the eyes of coach Doc Rivers. (Doc played here in the 90's). There was a look of concern........and bewilderment.......
The Celtics had the best record in the entire NBA this year......They have 3 bona fide superstars..........Yet ..........this series is now tied ........2-2. And now.....the Celts are the ones thinking....and ..........wondering.
Who knows where this series will end up. Game five is in Boston Wednesday night. Then back to Atlanta.
Even if these Hawks don't win another game...........we here in the deep south.....say "Thank you .......young 'uns .....for bringing the "hot" to "Hotlanta"........once again."
