"Lowe" .......Rider

Not a good week....for the Atlanta Braves.....off the field...

We've all been there...in our younger days...

"Souped " up car...at a red light......next to another... "souped up car.

You know what happens next.

The only problem is.......we did this ...as teenagers....not 37 year old grown men.

Thus is the problem Braves pitcher Derek Lowe is facing.

There comes a time when we must .....grow up.

Obvious something lost in Mr. Lowe's thought process.

A little late....but here it is.....courtesy of Business Insider:

Atlanta Braves Pitcher Derek Lowe Arrested For DUI After Racing His Porsche Against Another Driver

Derek Lowe Mugshot

Atlanta Braves ace Derek Lowe was arrested last night for driving under the influence after having been spotted allegedly racing another vehicle.

Lowe then refused a Breathalyzer test and was subsequently taken to jail.

The long tenured sinkerballer was charged with a DUI, reckless driving, and failure to maintain his lane. The arresting officer "detected a strong order of an alcoholic beverage" coming from the interior of his 2011 Porsche Panamera. The other driver was charged with reckless driving only.

Major League Baseball players have had a season long epidemic of getting caught while driving under the influence. Lowe is the fifth player to get nailed just this season, along with Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers, Adam Kennedy of the Mariners, Austin Kearns of the Indians, and Coco Crisp of the A's.

And it's not even May yet.

The Braves had an off day yesterday, and were already dealing with the blow back of their pitching coach Roger McDowell making homophobic comments and sexualized gestures towards San Francisco Giants fans.

Fire........this Bum!!!

The year is 2011....Still....the "white man" thinks he can say anything....do anything....without consequences.....

Well.....Mr.  McDowell.....

You can't.

This story has been brewing for a week now....Sorry for being late.

We feel Mr. McDowell got off easy......He should be terminated....now!

MLB hits Braves’ McDowell with fine, 2-week ban

ATLANTA (AP)—Braves pitching coach Roger McDowell was suspended for two weeks without pay Sunday by Major League Baseball for inappropriate comments and gestures he made toward fans before a game in San Francisco.

The suspension is retroactive to Friday, when McDowell was placed on administrative leave by the Braves. He also was fined an undisclosed amount for the April 23 incident.
McDowell will be required to complete sensitivity training and will have to apologize directly to the fans involved, Justin Quinn and his family.

Commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement Sunday that insensitivity to others “simply cannot and will not be tolerated.”

“I understand that Mr. McDowell is very contrite about his conduct, and hopefully this incident will be used to increase public awareness of the importance of sensitivity to others,” Selig said. “I commend Justin Quinn and his family for bringing this issue to our attention so that it will not happen again in the future.”

Quinn said he was in the stands with his wife and 9-year-old twin daughters before the April 23 game at San Francisco when he noticed McDowell ask three men “Are you guys a homo couple or a threesome?”

Quinn said McDowell made crude sexual gestures with his hips and a bat. Quinn said he shouted, “Hey there are kids out here.”

According to Quinn, McDowell said kids don’t belong at a baseball park, picked up a bat, walked up to Quinn and asked him, “How much are your teeth worth?”

McDowell issued an apology Thursday and, according to the release from the commissioner’s office, asked last week to apologize directly to Quinn and his family. The apology was being delayed until the investigation was completed.

“I understand the decision made today by the commissioner,” McDowell said in a statement Sunday. “I am embarrassed by my actions and I plan to give a personal apology to Mr. Quinn and his family. I would also like to offer a public and heartfelt apology to the fans of San Francisco, to the Atlanta Braves organization, my family and to Major League Baseball.”
Braves president John Schuerholz said the team supports Selig’s decision.

“We were clearly disappointed in Roger’s remarks and actions and the Atlanta Braves organization does not tolerate that kind of behavior,” Schuerholz said.

“The Atlanta Braves organization and Roger McDowell deeply regret that this incident occurred and again apologize to all involved, including Mr. Quinn and his family, and the San Francisco Giants and their fans.”

The release from the commissioner’s office said Quinn and his family will be invited to a Giants home game as guests of Major League Baseball. Also, baseball will “reach out” to education programs that promote tolerance and sensitivity.
In a statement released by his attorney, Gloria Allred, Quinn applauded the discipline imposed on McDowell.

“I am pleased to see Major League Baseball imposing discipline on Coach McDowell for his actions,” Quinn said. “I love baseball dearly and my family and I are now looking forward to getting back to the ballpark for another game.”

Allred said the discipline “demonstrates that Major League Baseball believes that homophobic slurs, sexually lewd conduct and threatening behavior by coaches or any other person employed at a game in the major league will not be tolerated.”

Minor league pitching coordinator Dave Wallace is filling in for McDowell.

The wife of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall stabbed the NFL star with a kitchen knife, according to police.

Michi Nogami-Marshall, who married Marshall last July, was arrested Friday night for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, reports Sportsillustrated.com.

"This is a very difficult time for Brandon and family, thankfully he will make a full recovery," Marshall's agent said in a statement.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office arrest report noted that evidence at the crime scene did not support Marshall's earlier claim that his injuries had been caused by falling on a broken glass vase. Nogami-Marshall, 26, told police she was defending herself from Marshall, 27, according to the report.

She is currently being held in jail under a $7,500 bond.

This isn't the first time the couple have been in trouble with police. In March 2009, a fight between the couple, who were engaged at the time, resulted in Marshall's arrest for misdemeanor battery, SI.com reports. Charges were dropped when neither party agreed to testify.

"Nappy Headed Ho".....

What a difference four years makes.  Time....has a way of dealing with ...stuff.

That phrase,  "Nappy headed Ho"....cost a man his job.

Now.....it's just a punch line in a popular NBC sitcom.

Tracy Morgan turns 'nappy-headed ho' into a punchline on '30 Rock'

By David Hinckleytracy morgan.jpg

The phrase “nappy-headed ho” wasn’t a joke to radio host Don Imus, his critics or his supporters in 2007 when it got him fired from WFAN and MSNBC.

Last night on the NBC sitcom “30 Rock,” it became one.

Or at least the setup for one.

On the 100th“30 Rock” show, a double-length production even more packed than usual with inside jokes and internal references, one of the running gags was that comedian Tracy Morgan’s character, Tracy Jordan, was threatening to quit the show because he couldn’t get anyone upset at him.

That was part of a larger gag, also driven by Alec Baldwin’s Jack Donaghy character, that it’s impossible to be taken seriously when you’re a TV actor.

In any case, Morgan/Jordan lamented that one point that he had called someone a “nappy-headed ho,” but even that didn’t get people angry, “because apparently it’s okay” if he says it.

Imus triggered a firestorm in April 2007 when he offhandedly repeated the incidental description of the Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy-headed hos.”

He apologized, though it didn’t save his job, and since he returned to the radio in his present position as WABC morning host, he has pointedly steered away from that sort of reference.

Carl Lewis Senate: Runner Cleared To Seek Office In New Jersey

Carl Lewis
By ANGELA DELLI SANTI   04/20/11 07:33 PM ET   AP

TRENTON, N.J. -- Nine-time Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis should be allowed to continue his bid for the New Jersey Senate because Republicans have failed to prove he doesn't live in the state, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Administrative Law Judge John Schuster III recommended that a petition to strip Lewis' name from the June primary ballot be dismissed.
The judge cautioned that he had not found that Lewis, among the greatest athletes of all time, had attained residency status – only that the challengers didn't meet the burden of proof that he lives elsewhere.

"Petitioners have not met their burden to demonstrate respondent has not attained resident status to seek state Senate office," the judge wrote in a 10-page ruling issued Wednesday.

Lewis, who as a track star in the 1980s and '90s was noted for his blistering pace and dominance of the long jump and 100-meter dash, is a Democrat making his first run for elected office. Republicans challenged his bid to run in the primary by claiming he had not lived in the state the required four years.

The judge, who heard the case only a day before he issued his nonbinding decision, said the time constraints prohibited a record from being fully developed. That could be significant as his initial decision on Lewis' political future is forwarded to Republican Secretary of State Kim Guadagno, who's required to adopt, modify or reject it by Thursday's deadline.

Guadagno's decision can be appealed to the Appellate Division.

Lewis said Wednesday that he was pleased with the judge's decision and was confident the secretary of state, who's also the lieutenant governor, would uphold it.

"The voters want to know where the candidates stand on the serious issues facing New Jersey and their visions for the future," Lewis said. "They're not interested in partisan sideshows that distract from that important discussion."

Kobe Bryant......was just a little upset last night....and directed his anger toward a referee.

Of course......TMZ.com.....caught the whole episode.

It's.......what they do:

Kobe Bryant -- I Didn't Mean To Offend Anyone

Kobe Bryant has issued a statement about his homophobic outburst during last night's Lakers game -- essentially admitting to using the word "f**got" and explaining, “What I said last night should not be taken literally."

Kobe continues, "My actions were out of frustration during the heat of the game, period. "

He adds, "The words expressed do NOT reflect my feelings towards the gay and lesbian communities and were NOT meant to offend anyone.”

As we previously reported, Kobe mouthed the words, "f**king f**got" towards an NBA referee last night after he was hit with a technical foul.
