We...Really Wanna Believe...But...

Could it be?  Will it be?

We really wanna believe...Believe in these Hawks...But...

History has made us ...just a little bit cautious when it comes to pro sports in the ATL.

But...here is the reality.

Holding 2-1 series lead, Hawks not usual No. 8 seed
The Atlanta Hawks are playing like the team that held onto the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference before a string of injuries. Holding the series lead against the top-seeded Indiana Pacers, this is not your typical No. 8 seed, writes John Manasso.

Pounding A Pacer...Literally!

A very high five...to the public relations brass of the Atlanta Hawks.  Wished we'd thought of this.

Check it out...from NBA.com:

Hawks let fans pound a Pacer

By Lang Whitaker, NBA.com

pacerpoundBLOG
ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — The Atlanta Hawks currently have a 2-1 lead over the Indiana Pacers, which is probably the most surprising result of the playoffs thus far. Yes, the Pacers have struggled recently, but the Hawks are still the 8 seed and are playing without their All-Star center, Al Horford, who is out injured.
On Saturday afternoon, the Hawks will host the Pacers for Game 4 of the series, when they try to take a 3-1 lead. And before the game, the Hawks are going to let their fans pound a Pacer, literally, all for a good cause.
This Pacer is a 1976 Pacer — no, not a member of the ’76 Pacers, but an AMC Pacer car.
According to the Hawks…
For a donation of $5, you can take a swing at the car pictured above (horrible Pacers colors by the way), and your donation will go to the Atlanta Hawks Foundation.
The car will be set up outside of the Philips Arena box office prior to the Hawks’ 2 p.m. tip off against the Pacers in Game 4 Saturday.  Join your fellow Hawks fans in pounding the Pacer before Atlanta aims to take a 3-1 series lead on the “other” Pacers.
The Atlanta Hawks Foundation, by the way, is pretty amazing.  It aims to improve quality of life of Georgia youth by inspiring them to develop a passion for learning and a commitment to physical fitness and recreation, so your money is going to help Atlanta-area children.

Game 3: The Hawks lead the Pacers 2-1 in Series!

Another night of basketball and the Hawks beat the Pacers 98-85 in Atlanta!

Slow Your Roll....Hawks Fans

The ATL was abuzz with game 1 with the Indiana Pacers..."Hawks Win"!

Well...reality has just set in.

These Hawks...our Hawks...are an under .500 team...an 8th seed.

The only legitimate All-Star...Al Horford.... has been injured for months...not playing in this series ...

These Hawks...are not very good.  They caught "lightning in a bottle"  for one night.

Let's not confuse them with the Miami Heat.

Three Hits: Second-half scoring drought dooms Hawks in Game 2
With a lead at halftime, it looked like Atlanta would return to Philips Arena with a 2-0 lead in its playoff series with Indiana. Instead, after being outscored 31-13 in the third quarter of a 101-85 loss, the series is now tied 1-1.

Things From the Week-end...That Was

It is a gorgeous spring day in this small, southern, college town.   Temps in the upper 70's...No humidity.

No flies...or pesky insects.

Absolutely wonderful.   Wish we could can these type days and open them up when the rainy season  overwhelms us.

Anyway...some "stuff" ...that made us pay attention to sports these past 2 days.

When We Were Kings

This is a little long...but worth every minute.  Ali versus Foreman...1974.  I had just finished high school.  Foreman had just destroyed Joe Frasier and Ken Norton.  None of us at the time thought Ali had any chance.  We all thought the worst case scenario...he would die in the ring.

But...he...did...not.

From the archives of HBO...and YouTube.

Sit back and enjoy a piece of history.  Trust me...you will be moved by this film.

The Madness...Of March!

My oh my.....the madness..the upsets!

And we're only in day 2.

Wow!!

In a New York...Minute

Only in New York... A few short years ago...Mark Sanchez was the toast of the city.  Today...he was fired by the New York football Jets.

The odd thing about this?

They've just signed....Michael Vick.

From the New York Daily News:

MARK SANCHEZ OUT, MICHAEL VICK IN: Jets release one-time Golden Boy quarterback and add veteran who served time in prison

Mark Sanchez knew this day was coming even as he wished in a strange sort of way that it wouldn’t. There was no shock when the Jets officially released him on Friday, no disbelief when the organization ended a strange five-year relationship with their erstwhile Golden Boy. read full story »

Kyle Korver...We Salute You!

Well...it's over now.  Our Kyle Korver... of our beloved Atlanta Hawks set an NBA record when he hit at least one three-point basket in 127 straight games.

Think about it.   That is a season...and then some.

No...Kyle Korver will never end up in the same conversation as the greatest players ever...He will not go into the NBA Hall of Fame...

But what he accomplished?  We applaud.

These Hawks these days need a reason for us fans to simply give a damn.

Kyle has done that and more.   This white boy can shoot!

And Kyle...we salute you...and applaud you!

From FoxSportsSouth:

In appreciation of Korver's streak

MAR 8, 3:45a ET | FOX Sports South
In appreciation of Korver
Kyle Korver's NBA-record streak of 127 games with a three-pointer is over, but its impact is not. Jerome Jurenovich and Mike Glenn put the run by the Hawks guard into perspective.

Daylight Savings Time...Once Again!

One of our favorite posts...

So we ...re post:

Springing............Forward

Daylight Savings Time.....

To be quite blunt.......Daylight savings time sucks! Tomorrow....check that...today..... at 2 am we will set our collective clocks forward 1 hour. Why? Our time pieces in our body will have to adjust needlessly for this ridiculous attempt to cheat mother nature.

How......exactly....... are we .......saving......daylight? And.....what are we saving daylight from? Is .....daylight ..... in danger? Does......daylight.....need to be rescued? Oh, my bad. We're not saving the daylight from an unknown enemy........We are saving daylight........for future use. So....should we freeze it ........or can it? Or put the daylight in a bank ....and earn interest.

Now, personally, I happen to like daylight. And for years now, I have done what most Americans have done for the last 30 years.......In March........I save an hour..........of daylight.
Only to give it back in October! And when I give it back........I have no return on my investment. I just........don't get it. Spring forward...........fall backward......why? And for.......whom?

Daylight.........could care less.......In a 24 hour day..........daylight shines for how ever many hours.......regardless if we humans manipulate a doggone clock.

Meanwhile.........the moon is watching all of this........and thinking........."Hey....what about "moonlight" savings time......." We want equal representation". We too..... want to be saved.

Imagine that..............then again.......just set that darn clock ahead ......save that hour of daylight........and be a zombie for a few days before your body adjusts......

Daylight Savings Time............

Yuck!!!!
