Atlanta.....This Could Have Been Us
It should have been us....Excuse us if we're are still somewhat bitter. But...
The ATL should have represented the NFC in the Super Bowl just played. We came up 10 yards short.
There is no doubt in my mind...our Atlanta Falcons...would have prevailed over the Baltimore Ravens.
They matched up better than the 49ners. More weapons...more speed.
But......as we say here often...it is ...what it is.
We congratulate you, Baltimore.
Enjoy your moment:

A Super Event!
Last nights Super Bowl had a little something for everybody...Alicia Keys nailed the National Anthem...Beyonce nailed the half time show...And the Baltimore Ravens nailed the 49ners.
Even the Super Dome got involved with a tribute to Black History Month....a 30 minute black-out.
There were commercials....some good...some bad...some funny.
In the end...it was a very entertaining event.
Three headlines...from San Francisco, New Orleans and Baltimore:

R.I.P.....Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner
A little late...but let us pay our respects.
From GaPeach913:
Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner, Dead at 70
The Ohio Players official Facebook page released this official announcement:
Dateline: January 26, 2013 – Dayton, OH

Yesterday, Leroy “Sugarfoot” Bonner passed away quietly in his hometown of Trotwood-Dayton, OH. While his family, friends, colleagues, and fans mourn his passing they celebrate fondly his memory, music, and legacy.

Thoughts...on a Super Sunday
We're back! With apologies to our faithful readers...we...or should I say "I"....have been a little busy during that past couple of weeks.
Still ...no excuses.....So let me share a few thoughts on the day of the 47th Super Bowl.
Five things ...I think ...I think:
#1. I am still bitter...not over it yet...The Atlanta Falcons should be playing in this game tonight.
#2. Everybody should back off on Beyonce! What's the big deal if she lip-sincs the National Anthem?
#3. My grand daughter is so cute...at 10 months.
#4. I have "unfriended" people on FaceBook ...because of their hatred for President Obama.
#5. Are you as tired of the pre-game hype...as I am?
Are we getting old...or what? I have seen every Super Bowl ever played. I can even remember the very first one. In Tulane Stadium.....Green Bay versus Kansas City. It was televised by both CBS and NBC. The stadium was half full. Grambling State's marching band was the half time entertainment.
Wow....and now today! Just the biggest event...on the planet!
Sit back.....eat your shrimp and chicken wings....watch the commercials.....and enjoy!

Philly's...Quack Attack
It's official...the Philadelphia Eagles have their man! None other than the former coach of the college team known as the Oregon Ducks.
Chip Kelly and his famed fast-break offense will test the waters of the NFL.
Questions? Will he keep Michael Vick? Will that Oregon offense succeed in ..."Big Boy" football?
Who knows.....just speculation.

These "Birds" are Self Destructing
Things are going from bad to worse for the Atlanta Hawks. In the midst of a very serious slump....what do the Hawks do?
They suspend their best player....Josh Smith. Supposedly " J-Smooth" was thrown out of practice the other day.
Coach Larry Drew has definitely lost control of this team. Don't know all the details...but...
This ain't good.
From the AJC:
Smith suspended for tonight's game

Getting no Love....in the ATL
There is a championship game to be played on Sunday...between the Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco Giants.
The talking heads of the world wide leader (ESPN) cannot control themselves gawking uncontrollably over the 49ners. According to most everyone....the Falcons don't stand a chance. San Fran has better players....a better coach...a better QB....a better defense.
This is the same 49ner team that went into New York and got destroyed by the Giants. Oh...by the way...the Falcons beat these same Giants, 34-0. This is the same 49ner team the Seattle Sea Hawks humiliated a few weeks ago. (See last week) The Falcons shut out Seattle 20-0 in the first half on the way to....yes a win.
Atlanta is went 13-3 this season...best in the NFL. Home field advantage is theirs.
Let San Fran get the headlines.....the magazine covers. Come Sunday, Falcons....hit 'em in the mouth.....repeatedly! Then....hit 'em again. Then step on their neck until they puke!
I have a feeling the "Dirty Birds" will play with so much intensity ......so much energy....
The Dome will be rocking!
Let them have their SI cover.....The ATL will have the last laugh.
Jinxes? Kaepernick, Harbaugh this week’s SI cover boys

A New Low!
Last night the Atlanta Hawks played a basketball game. Well sort of. The Hawks were on a basketball court, but it is debatable that they actually participated in the game.
This was quite an embarrassment.
Record-setting night for Bulls in 97-58 thrashing of Hawks
5....five! as in 5 points scored in the second quarter! A month ago this team looked to challenge the best in the east. Now...it is quite possible they will never win a game again!
What a joke!

It Is....What it Is!
Fact....The SEC has now won the last 7....yes seven BCS Championships. The National media totally dismisses this as a Southern Myth.
Really? Really? The real National Championship game this year ....was the first week of December.
Remember? In Atlanta. Georgia and Alabama? Two SEC powerhouses. Georgia fell five yards short.
And last night?
Last night?

Flying...High
Yes.....we were ...just a little bit hard on these birds. But who could blame us?
The Falcons just lost to Carolina last week... And the Giants? The defending Champs?
Well......the "dirty birds" rose to the occasion.
Not only did they win the game...they...dominated!

"Cam'ed" In Carolina
This could possibly be the worst 11-2 team in NFL history. The Atlanta Falcons were out coached, out played, out "Cam'ed"....in just about every sense yesterday.
Carolina scored on their first 4 possessions in route to a 16-0 halftime lead.
It only got worse in the second half. Cam Newton torch the birds with a 72 yard touchdown run. Quickly it was 23-0.
The Falcons would eventually wake up out of their funk to make the final score a little more respectable.
But make no mistake about it....They got whipped. And yes they're 11-2....but!

A Fool...and His Money
Yes we said it. Allen Iverson is a fool. And a fool and the reported $150 million he has earned ...has departed him.
Right now he is bringing in $62,500 a month...but shelling out $360,000 a month.
Do the math.
What a fool!

Hold Your Head Up....UGA!
Wow! What a game. The University of Georgia played the University of Alabama yesterday in a game the will go down in history as one of the greatest...ever.
Somebody had to win....somebody had to lose.
Two heavyweights. The SEC.
Georgia came up...5 yards short.
What a game!
