MLB....(the boys of summer) are giving us great play-off races......the NFL....is waiting in the wings.....as well as ........college football.

In the meantime.......some "stuff"......we're following:

Braves.....take another series:

Houston Chronicle - Jonathan Feigen - ‎1 hour ago‎
More than two years after the Rockets began chasing Courtney Lee, they completed a four-team, five-player deal to get him on Wednesday, dealing Trevor Ariza after just one season in Houston to complete the deal.

A North Carolina ....Typo

How embarrassing is this?

It's back to school ....in North Carolina....

Or.....should we say,  back to "shcool"?

Well, here's something to make your old English teacher gasp in horror: A road contractor hired to paint the word "school" on a freshly paved stretch of road near Southern Guilford High School in North Carolina rendered the traffic area in question a "shcool" zone.

Barry Bonds -- Trial Date Set for Steroid Case

Mark your calendars -- Barry Bonds will stand trial for allegedly lying to a grand jury about his steroid use before setting baseball's home-run record ... and it's all going down in March 2011.

0806_barry_bonds_GETTY_BN
Bonds -- who faces 11 felony counts of perjury and obstruction of justice for his testimony during a 2003 MLB steroid investigation -- has been ordered to appear in federal court in San Francisco on March 21, 2011.

Bonds allegedly tested positive for steroids three times before his 2003 testimony -- but claimed in 2003 that he never knowingly used the substance.

Bonds has already pled not guilty and has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

Hot lazy days.....Dog days.....Summertime...in the south.

I still can't believe ......how we survived......all those summers......with just a 20" box fan.

No AC........No "Weather Channel" ....to warn us of the pending "heat index".

But......we made it.

We did not die of heat strokes......we didn't get struck by lightning.

We've worked all week.

Now........relax.

Iron Mike........Sued?

Just when.....when is Mike Tyson....ever going to get a break.

They say, "You make your own luck".........But ....Mr. Tyson.....seems ...to have...no luck at all.

A 49-year-old retired boxer is trying to pick a $115 million fight with Mike Tyson -- claiming "The Hangover" star hijacked his "Iron Mike" nickname 25 years ago.

0804_mike_tyson_guy_EXD_getty_4

The other "Iron" man is Mike Landrum -- a former professional fighter who claims he coined the nickname "Iron Mike" before he turned pro in 1983. Tyson started fighting professionally in 1985.

Landrum has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Los Angeles, claiming he owns the trademark to the nickname "Iron Mike" -- and therefore, Tyson infringed on his rights by using the nickname throughout his boxing career.

Landrum -- who's representing himself in the case -- tells us he was "hindered from getting any major title fights or sponsorships because of the name confusion."

For the record -- Landrum's record was 6-4 as a pro.

TMZ spoke with Tyson's rep Tammy Brook who tells us, "Mike's legal team hasn't seen the paperwork yet, but they are confident the case holds no merit."

Flipping Out.....And Over

Mr. Rodman.....is one lucky human being:

Dennis Rodman Involved in Massive Car Wreck

TMZ has learned Dennis Rodman was involved in a terrible car accident this weekend -- in which his car flipped three times -- but walked away with just a scratch on his finger.

Dennis Rodman Car Accident
Sources close to Dennis tell TMZ the former NBA star was the passenger in a green Range Rover traveling on I-95 in Fort Lauderdale, FL ... when one of the tires blew out. We're told the car flipped three times and Dennis had to be pulled from the car by a few good Samaritans who had stopped to help.

We're told the people who helped pull Dennis out of the wreckage later asked for autographs ... but Rodman politely declined.

Rodman's friend was transported to a local hospital and treated for head injuries.
